Didn't hogan flirt with turning bad while he was in the WCW, before he was in the NWO. Like he came out wearing black at World War III, but then it turned out he wasn't turing bad?

I think he wore black in his Nitro match against Sting when the Dungeon of Doom was still around too.

He wasn't bad. He just started wearing black to symbolize...well something. He did begin having heelish tendencies, including the match with Sting. Anyway, at World War 3, he revealed IT WAS ALL A RUSE, then burned the Observer or something.

IIRC from...something, since I was like, 4 when it happened, he was the "Man in Black."
He never really thought of being bad at all. He was scared shitless at the concept, seeing as merchandise sales would plummet (or so he thought).

Wasn't that also the angle when Randy Savage did the same thing; start dressing in black with the Hulkster? I also remember Hogan ranting continually about wanting Meng's head on a silver platter...

So no one knows what happened? The angle was a 'testing of the waters' so to speak for a Hogan heel turn. Hulk was feuding with the Dungeon of Doom and in order to battle evil, he had to become evil... fight fire with fire, 'Jake training Warrior' type deal. Hogan wore black ring attire, painted his face like Sullivan, and convinced some of his buddies (Savage, Luger) to teach him how to be a bad dude, brother. The angle ended not long after it had begun when Hogan came out at WWIII, said he had seen the light, and tore off the black revealing the red and yellow. He wrestled in the battle royal that night and did the Dusty finish with Savage to promote Nitro the following night. Seven months later of course, he turned for real. |

Hogan was pissed because "brother bruti" stabbed him in the back and injured his neck... so he dressed in black to show he was depressed and pissed off... he then had a match with leslie (who was the "the butcher") and beat him and started dressing in red and yellow again...
at least that is how i remember it...
