Just wanted to know if the general consensus around here is that Mark Madden is wrestlecrap?
Personally, I believe he NEEDS to replace Michael Colon on Smackdown, and was quite funny at times and actually had a proper gimmick unlike the smackdown announcers (this gimmick being a loud mouth hawaiian shirt wearing lazy bum).
Although I can see why people might dislike him.

He does great sports talk radio in pittsburgh. I always liked him because I could watch him on Nitro then listen to him talk about the Penquins/Pirates the next day.

I always thought that he should be Don West's spot in TNA. He could resume kissing Jarrett's ass like he did back in WCW. I hate that Tenay/West are the only broadcast tandem that agree on everything. Bringing Maddeon onboard could bring both heat and enthusiam to the announcers' booth.

Anyone who uses a Jason Mewes catchphrase ("Snootchie Bootchies") is a-ok in my book.

Favorite Madden line ever:
*Gene Okerlund puts down mic and applaudes Hugh Morrus after defeating Lance Storm for the US title.* "Is he giving Morrus the clap?"

For saying he didn't like his commentary (as mentioned above by the man himself), and all the shit he gave (gives?) him; IIRC, he can't really take a joke, either.....

For saying he didn't like his commentary (as mentioned above by the man himself), and all the lots of manure he gave (gives?) him; IIRC, he can't really take a joke, either..... He doesn't seem like he would take criticism well. I thought he was the best announcer on Nitro for a while, but looking at who he was on with lowers the bar significantly. And I believe he was the person (on air at least) that named the spinaroony.

I inducted the Madden-Okerlund match at some point, and he took great offense to it. I remember I was as cordial as I could be to the man, and he was very angry about it, ranting about me over at the Torch. I even posted his response on WrestleCrap so he couldn't complain I wasn't giving him a forum with my readers. That wasn't enough, and he was still irate. Whatever. You can make all the people happy none of the time. RD

You can make all the people happy none of the time. RD Madden is a sports radio show host, and used to be a sports writer in Pittsburgh. He's a "Jim Rome wannabe" type radio host, always trying to talk trash on athletes and stir up trouble in the 'burgh. In fact, I believe he started an on air feud with another, more respectable, less irate, Pittsburgh sports radio show host. Probably as a publicity stunt of some sort. The other guy (Stan Savran for those of you familiar with Pittsburgh) basically just blew it off as Madden being his usual jackass self. His antics also got him fired from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as a sports columnist awhile back. It's Madden's job as a "sports radio shock jock" to rant and rave about things and try to stir up trouble. So it should come as no surprise that he called R.D. out like this... it's all just his way of getting attention.

He doesn't seem like he would take criticism well. This is I must agree with. I thought he was awful. It was during his run as an announcer that I was inspired to bring signs to a wrestling show for the first (and only) time. Nitro was at the Nassau Colliseum in the waning days of WCW in 2000. My friend and I despised Madden on commentary. We brought a sign that said "Mark Madden, Please Shut The Hell Up!" He saw it and flipped us off. Granted, it ultimately made no difference, but I'm glad we irritated him into giving us the bird. Our other sign was the subtle "Russo=Ole 2000"

I liked him. I remember him saying something like, "I think I see more than 10% body fat." to Lex Luger one time. Luger seemed legitametly pissed.

Mark Madden was TERRIBLE, by far my most disliked wrestling announcer, he tried too hard and his opinion sucks not only on wrestling but on Pittsburgh sports as well
