Hayabusa paralyzed in ring accident. Few months later FMW folded. It was end up Japanese "mid-majors" and "experimental" wrestling. Every garbage match and sports entertainment feel in Japan FMW started it all. Fans still wonder why Japanese wrestling in a downward spiral.

Watching Christian, Jericho, and benoit hit their heads on the glass ceiling. Espically when jericho said in that promo he hasn't had a world title shot in 4 years. I think that is the saddest thing in pro wrestling nearing crime.

Watching HHH pin Booker T after 30 seconds of both of them lying on the mat, at WM XIX.

WCW and ECW folding within a few months of each other, and creating the monopoly that is the wrestling industry of today. From '96-'01, I was the WWF's biggest fan. I live on the west coast so I never found out about ECW until later on it got to TNN and was sodomized each week by the network. But once the 2 promotions were dead, we were left with only 1 company, 1 I loved, but have begun to hate with no real competition. TNA has potential, but it can't compete with the WWE to me.
Cactus Jack's ECW promos. It wasn't the type to make me cry, but you can tell Foley was genuine about everything he was saying and even began to feel for him

I remember the incident vividly. Altho i dont remember what the event was (other then it was a PPV). Hogan vs. Undertaker. I was sad at first when 'Taker tombstoned hogan with the chair, because I was just a kid (couldnt have been more then 10) and I grew up with Hogan as my champ. Eat your vitamins, say your prayers. And even I knew this signified the end of the immortal hulk hogans reign. But what really made me sad was the replay. Again I was still a kid, I believed wrestling was real. "No dad, your wrong its not fake, you don't know. Then the replay. Undertaker tombstone's Hulk on the chair, except hulk's head is a good foot above the mat and the chair. It never hit. That exact moment as a kid I knew wrestling was fake. Kinda like finding out theres no santa claus. It was pretty devestating, and I actually quit watching wrestling for a good many years after that. They stole my innocence.

Owen Hart definately passing away in the ring. Reading Martha's book was really sad because you knew what was going to happen at the end. It was one of those moments where it was so shocking you couldn't believe it.

Seeing Rowdy Roddy Piper attempt to wrestle on Smackdown, tagging with Sean O'Haire, after having both hips replaced and obviously not having seen the inside of a gym since 1999.
We all get old, it happens, and it's perfectly natural. Still, though.

I know you said no deaths,
But without a doubt it was when Kerry Von Erich shot himself in the face. At this point, it was completely impossible to deny how f u@&ed up the Von Erichs were. It was also no longer possible to deny that World Class booking was incredibly disturbing and weird (see Mike VE's push, Fritz's "heart attacks", Kerry's promos about how David had gone to Jesus, etc.). It wasn't the death of wrestling in Dallas, but it was certainly one of the nails in the coffin ( the ultimate one being the demolition of the Sportatorium).
Depressing thread.

I was young, and naive, and I cried when "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan challenged Yokozuna. Duggan became the first man to knock the big guy off his feet with a running tackle, and to make him pay, Yokozuna Banzai Dropped him a half dozen times. Then, later on Superstars, Mrs. Duggan came on, pleading for Duggan to retire.
All a work, yes, but I had no idea what it meant. I just knew that I'd have no good reason to yell "Hoo!" at my TV anymore.
