Hey RD, I just yesterday bought the Death of WCW. I have read it and thought it was a great book.
Anyway, my question is in regards to a sidebar in your book about Jericho's wife prucahsing a Malenko/Jericho doll set and the receipt saying Hogan/Sting. In the book, it says this meant Hogan and Sting would get the residual from the purchase. Do you know this for fact? As I work in retail, I know sometimes the receipt will say something different from what was actually purchased, but the sale goes down as what you really bought anyway. More than likely, the error with the receipt would have occured at store level in the specific store the dolls were purchased in. The UPC would have tied together with that of the Jericho/Malenko set when sales were reported anyway, so Jericho and Malenko should have gotten the residual.

Can you image some face making fun of a heel by playing with action figures? That would comedy gold.

They had the same conversation as on the outset of this thread, arguing over the terms "action figure" and "doll." Yes, absolutely hysterical. Also, if you have seen the One Night Only match between Shawn Michaels and British Bulldog, you might remember seeing a Davey Boy Smith action doll finding its way into HBK's tights.

Know when Al Snow's action figured was pulled from Wal Mart, Road Dogg carried the figure down to the ring to mock him.

actually... back in the early years of WCW Paul heyman in his Paul E. Dangerously persona used to ad bumpers for the canadian televison. He did one advertising the rubber WCW figures, he would be using either Sting or Lugar against on of his heel wrestler figure then suddenly start to smack the sting or Lugar figure with his phone until the actual wrestler counterpart of the action would walk in and scare him off.
The Mid 90's WWF colisuem videoes had commericals with the action figures somethimes with either ,macho man or piper doing them with 6the actual wrestler counterparts doing bit commentaries. I always like the the bulldog, undertaker one. The Sgt. slaughter and Mr. perfect one was ok too.

The Hart Foundation CHV comes to mind where Jimmy Hart and the Harts are playing with the LJN figures to "plan" their attack. Also there are a couple TNT segments where the figures are used including one where Macho Man throws some LJNs into the pseudo-mental doctor's face. -Ian

I remember when the first or second SmackDown game came out, an interview with D'Lo Brown was done. He was playing as Steve Austin, and was beating the crap out of himself in the game. I thought it was pretty funny.

This actually ties in with a question I have, which is how you and the others were able to get a lot of the info that you got for the book? Some stories, like the DDP/Steiner fight were publicized but what kind of people did you talk to or interview to find out about the whole WCW story?

Remember when Hogan was doing a broken neck angle, and Bobby Heenan brought out a Hogan action figure with a neck-brace?
