There's a few reasons WWE doesn't do a lot of Wrestlemania matches on DVDs.
1) The early ones (I-VI) feature Jesse Ventura on commentary. They have to pay him royalties for his voice, and they really don't like doing that. Hence all the edited matches on some of the DVDs that feature his voice.
2) The "Attitude" era ones have the WWF scratch logo that is such a pain in the neck for them to edit out. That's understandable.
3) WWE is possibly saving the matches for a comprehensive Wrestlemania set. Rumor has it, there might be one for this Christmas. I think I can speak for all of us when I say, SWEET.
Taken from some place on the internet:
Nah, I found that on the DVDVR boards. It apparently came from somebody fairly reliable.

This DVD set is missing the Warrior and Savage. How can you have Arn Anderson on there and not them? Arn Anderson > Warrior and Savage combined. JMO.

Whoa...I don't know about Savage. Anderson is tons better than Warrior, naturally, but Savage, I don't know about that.

Settled back in '99 as part of the appearance package that brought him to SummerSlam as Governor. It was detailed in all the rags; Vinnie can now use whatever Jesse footage he wants, whenever he wants, it was all part of a flat rate contract signed six years ago.

Plus, check out any of the collections ( I believe Benoit, Guererro, and RVD) that have matches from early-90s, and you'll hear Tony "The greatest ever this week" Shiavone talking to . . . himself, because Ventura is edited out. It is really sad. I at first thought WCW was doing some sort of "Tony has an imaginary friend" angle that I never knew about.

That was my understanding as well, but then I have noticed the situation the other guys are talking about as well. I think WWE used Ventura's commentary on its Hall of Fame DVD, but Jesse was already a part of it. I wonder if those damn pandas have something to do with this editin as well. >=]

If Vince sells the XFL rights to ESPN classic will they have to edit out Jesse's voice?
As far as the Warrior goes, he's probably not included because they have a double DVD set of him coming out soon, and lets be honest there aren't enough good Warrior matches to fill up 2 DVD's and give away a good one on this DVD

I think WWE picks and chooses when to use Jesse's commentary. I've noticed that on a few DVDs, it's left in (Hogan's DVD and the Hogan/Warrior match from WM VI that's on the WM X8 DVD are the only two examples that come to mind). I think it's just if WWE feels like paying him royalties or not, which they usually don't want to do. Maybe in 2002 they had the money, and that's why those two DVDs, which came out relatively the same time (June 2002, IIRC), didn't have his commentary edited out.

this was a good dvd, classic wrestling with good matches, i hear folks complaining about savage vs steamboat being cut, but flair vs steamboat makes up for it, now all 3 matches from 89 are on dvd, the other 2 in the ric flair collection. i have no complaints about it. if only some of the younger wwe wrestlers would watch some of these DVDs and learn how a match should be done, even with the quicker pace, im sure they can adapt some of it to their game today.

Savage should have been on here. He peaked in 88 with becoming the champ at Wrestlemania IV.

I will be reviewing this DVD, along with the Benoit, Eddy, and RVD ones in this week's Ramblings. In fact, I am thinking of having a DVD Shelf section like I have the Book Shelf one. Let me know what you guys and gals think of that idea.
