I don't know why it's funny to me that Cena acting exactly like he does now would be the biggest heel during the attitude era.

With such a corny, stupid, lame, and irritating promo like that...which he has been doing for years, it boggles my mind why people cheer him at all. How can anyone like someone who comes across so lame and goody two shoes?

The only chance Cena goes heel in the near future is if Orton gets over in a Stone Cold kind of way.

With such a corny, stupid, lame, and irritating promo like that...which he has been doing for years, it boggles my mind why people cheer him at all. How can anyone like someone who comes across so lame and goody two shoes? As a person who cheers for Cena I'll answer that one easily. I like his attitude and I don't mind his promos or his in-ring work. I respect the fact that he bust his butt every time he comes to the ring. He has a respect for the business that is severely lacking in many young wrestlers. He is very grateful for his position and you never hear about him complaining about anything. He treats fans with respect and is a great spokesman for the sport. He lives a clean life and does not have controversy following him around. He doesn't get pissed when people boo him. No matter what he acts like a pro. He went into One Night Stand and faced one of the most hostile environments possible and handled it better than ANY wrestler I've ever seen. He respects younger workers and doesn't go around burying people in interviews and doesn't have a rep for using politics such as Hogan, Nash and Hall in WCW. To sum it up, I cheer for him because I find him entertaining and because I RESPECT him as a professional and as a person. A better question is why would you hate someone who is GOOD for wrestling in a wrestling world filled with so much b.s., egos, drug addicts and other people who are a total embarrassment to there profession.

I'm not a Cena hater but yesterday I finally crossed that line. He's terribly bland and boring. His entire character is he doesn't give up. That's the whole thing. He doesn't even seem to make jokes anymore, just uber serious "I will beat you! This belt is mine! I have haters but haters gonna hate so I love my fans even more! CHAMP IS HERE!"

You know who else sold a ton of merchandise like Cena?! JEFF HARDY!!!So you know what that means! He's gonna have a heel turn like Jeff did years ago. **Cena standing in the ring with HBK** Cena: I'm gonna start beatin' some people around here! And I'm gonna start with you!!! **HBK superkicks him in the face. Cena vanishes for three weeks and returns to TV as a babyface again.** ;D

Have you heard the guys promos when he's a face? At least this time WWE has been smartened and kept Orton from talking. Typical IWC thinking. Silly rabbit Pops don't make you over. Selling merchandise and seats does. Plus if Cena can't unite fans why would Orton. Why wouldn't Orton end up getting cheered b guys(and some women) and booed by kids and the other women. You're generalizing kids. You make it sound like every kid on earth only loves a milquetoast good-guy. When I was a kid I loved guys with an edge like Macho, DiBiase, Perfect & Warrior. I liked Batman. I watched monster movies & Jason movies. Not every kid is this namby-pamby naive 3 year old the world makes them out to be. Kids know the score. It's parents who are the problem-- cluelessly imbecilic parents who put them in a box. I see it every day. Oh, and just so you know from a previous post, more young kids watched WWE during the raunchy Attitude era. Substantially more. And today's average WWE TV viewer is in their mid-30's.

A Cena heel turn seems counter-productive at this point. Today, just about, its the women & children that cheer him and the men that boo him. Turn him heel, and the men will cheer him and the women & children will boo him. He'll still be getting the same reactions he's getting today. You can't get 100% of the crowd to cheer him, and you can't get 100% to boo him (or even, at least, 80%).
Just as well, turn him heel & what babyfaces is he going to feud with? What babyfaces would be on the same level of a heel John Cena? Maybe Rey Mysterio or The Undertaker (you could add Triple H, but I don't really want to see him in the main event anymore - and I'm a Triple H mark). Orton's name has been thrown around a lot but he's not on the same level, at least not as a face, in my mind.
Until some more younger & well established bayfaces start coming around, you might as well just keep Cena face.

Why turn him? He's got great fire in his comebacks and his timing is awesome. Then there's also the fact that like someone said, if they turn him, and the guy they want to be "the guy" fails, then they screwed themselves.

Those arguing for Cena to get a heel turn ALA Hogan have to remember WCW at the time was loaded with guys who could carry the company as faces. Savage, Flair, Luger, Sting, and the Giant. Plus it was WCW.. the heel was always important to their show, just like the NWA.
Times are much different..
