How exactly can Green Lantern beat Surfer? Maybe if he was possessed by Parallax, but that'd be like taking a chainsaw to a boxing match.

How exactly can Green Lantern beat Surfer? Actually, I don't see it as much of a stretch. Surfer has "the power cosmic" and Lantern's got...the lantern. With the whole "yellow deficiency" gone now, DC's never actually established what the ring's limits are as far as power goes, just that it's limited. I'd view them as fairly equal. And if Hal can be quick and hit Norin hard and fast enough before his power's drained, I could see GL taking the win.

The rings' limitations are: - The wielder's imagination. - It needs to be recharged after a while. The more it is used and the more complex the construct, the quicker it drains. And once it drains the wield has to say the Green Lantern oath to summon their own personal power battery and recharge the ring.

I think on DC's side, Captain Atom should fight the Silver Surfer. He very overpowered theoretically(draws through the entire quantum field), though he has been shafted most of the time. How about the DC vs Marvel villains? I admit, Marvel has more powerful villains than DC, especially with we put Thanos in the picture. THAAAAAANK YOU! I was going to read the thread before I made this point. Marvel villains far exceed DC villains. No wonder DC heroes look so good; they have no competition. Yes, that's completely an exaggeration, but my point is ... Marvel villains vs. DC villains = laughable (to me anyway). EDIT: So, what I was going to say originally is THAT's why there are so many teams in Marvel. Have you seen their opponents??? Geez. No wonder DC guys don't have to team up--look at their opponents. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I do want to add that this thread is awesome. I've really enjoyed reading the posts, and I truly and thoroughly dig hypotheticals like this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And I love this post ... lol i love these discussions,. many of the DC guys are as they were made by a child - "well my guy is superstrong, AND faster than light, AND cant ever die so nyah" . batman should be dead within seconds of any fight against hulk, thor, surfer, torch, ghostrider....but there is the argument that he's the smartest and best fighter and so on and would find a way to survive. complete bollocks flash can do nearly anything because of his speed seriously half the DC team could be wiped out by torch going supernova, or surfer blasting them from space. but oh wait! superman has supercold breath to extinguish torch (see how mary-sueish the DC guys are?) so onto it: Thor strikes the water with lightning - aquaman dead hulk and thor occupies superman and superboy while torch and surfer blast the DC heroes from a distance - all dead except WW, flash, batman batman disables ironmans systems, because he just knows everything and knew just how to do it WW breaks spidermans neck at this point, supermn and boy, WW, torch, surfer, thor are in the sky - punisher, cap america, and wolverine are left on the ground like the over matched turds they are, along with the hulk who loses his s*** and kills them all *quickly*. batman survives by hiding under a bush, then removes the gamma radaiton from banner because he is the gretaest engineer and philosopher of all times and knew what to do. he then kicks banner in the balls . he also kills flash just to show he can. he then defeats daredevil in a hearing contest, because he's the goddam batman ghost rider drives off, the whole time the voices nagging him about what a failure how he has no ambition and will be low-middle management his whole life superman/boy use their rancid cold breath to smite the torch, he dies of a heart attack before he hits the ground WW tries to block thors hammer with her wrist watch but he smashes her hands - superman now angry (no more hand joobs) attacks and kills thor. the supers, boy and man, begin to wonder why they are there, is he my son, or my young self, why are they continueing his story if im grown up? this allows surfer to use his godlike powers to begin to syphon the very life from the two superguys. just then Batman flies up in specially made armor, that he made just in case a being with this power cosmic ever cam, because he just knows, and drains the surfers power into his suit - because as the worlds greatest scientist, executive , lover, kung fu master, he can defy even the most powerful beings in the galaxy, even if he has never seen them before he knew what to plan for. so BAtman kills surfer the end -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finally, if there IS a "gamebreaker" in this battle, I think that person *could* be Flash. I don't think Flash would want to kill though, so that's a major setback, but I definitely see him as the last DC member to survive, if we're talking in sheer terms of "who'd survive?" Marvel might win, but winning probably means they couldn't really have an answer for Flash in terms to "ultimate victory." (And this is based purely on the list of names offered in the original post.) Maybe Human Torch going nova would be the best shot at stopping or limiting Flash? (I was thinking Iceman going nova would be a possibility too in stopping him.) Jean Grey would probably be needed to secure an easier victory, but I agree for the most part that the Marvel team probably does represent the "most popular characters," as stated by the original poster so Jean doesn't make the cut. (Jean Grey mind-blocking any telepathy or mind control from the opposing side PLUS Molecule Man would = certain and complete victory by themselves. Molecule Man is JACKED! Which is why I'm glad they made the guy a litte "mental," so he wouldn't have ended Marvel comics as soon as he first hit the scene.)

She alone is a reality manipulator.

Marvel, frankly, isn't much better when it comes to overpowering their characters. Marvel characters look downright normal when you read their description, but their powers get pushed so far above and beyond that that it's ridiculous. DC characters are given a lot of power, but with a few exceptions, the upper limits are defined. Marvel characters are given fewer powers, but have no upper limits. Besides, give them a week to prepare and Iron Man will have developed armor tailor made to neutralize every single one of them.

I've got three words as far as Marvel Villains vs. DC Villains...Asgardian f***ing Destroyer. This thing is the most brutal, vicious, and powerful thing I've ever read about. The Destroyer Armor has...on more than one occasion nearly killed Thor EASILY. It's broken Thor's hammer on a number of occasions (A feat that is pretty much impossible for anyone else), it's defeated an entire Avengers team by itself (one that included Cap, Thor, Ironman, Scarlet Witch, Wonder Man, and quite a few others), and almost beat the Hulk to death with it's bare hands. Penguin can bring all the umbrellas he wants, but Darkseid better learn to spell his name right and turn those eye beams on himself, because I can't think of any villain in the DC Universe that would stand a chance against the Asgardian Destroyer.

DC wins this one... cos I'm going to write it. And it'll be embarrassing, especially when the Punisher pees himself in fear vs. G'nort.

Iron Man could win the whole thing.
He currently possesses the Reality Gem.

For DC Villains side, what about Cyborg Superman(Hank Henshaw)? He is about as powerful as Superman, but can control any machine and has genius level intellect. I'd imagine he would be hard for the Avengers to fight.

The thing is, GL needs a split second to amp himself up to Surfer's level of strength and speed, and he doesn't have that kind of time.
