This might be cool. There's never been a clearly bi-wrestler in wrestling. Goldust was more of an either/or character--is he gay or straight--the bi element was never there.

I guess it makes sense. Abyss has a mental disorder, and Orlando Jordan has a sexual disorder. They could even debut a couple of new characters like "Pope the Polygamist" and "Big Rob the Pedophile". They could even bring in Stinksky to do his foot fetish thing. Rick Santorum?

In my opinion the whole thing is going to be a waste of time. It won't bring any extra viewers to Impact and it won't sell any more PPVs.
But hey, I've been wrong before.

The angle would work better if it were two male wrestlers and a valet. Maybe with a Rules of Attraction type of storyline.
It'd be simple: Find a decent wrestler on the indies who just happens to be bi. Then, three-way love triangle. For added effect, make one of the guys the opposite of the other in look and attitude.
From there it's easy, do a tag team then a break-up (literally) angle. Maybe have one guy like the chick, the second guy liked by the chick, and the second guy likes the first guy.

If it's getting coverage, push it. They haven't done anything shocking with it yet, keep it fairly subtle and tasteful.

I think they will do this, but hopefully TNA takes the extra step further that an angle like this needs.
It can't just be "Orlando Jordan: Bi-Sexual"
That's not enough to make anyone care.
Look at Rick Rude. He was heterosexual, but he used it as a weapon to play mind games with his opponents.
If Jordan uses his bi-sexuality as a weapon, then it could have some legs. But if he just gets involved in a regular storyline that is basically - "By the way folks, Orlando Jordan is bi-sexual!" then it will flop.

If I remember correctly, "Billy and Chuck" were on Good Morning America and made mainstream news. I wonder if we'll get Eric Bischoff as a fake priest again. By the way, Eric Bischoff was gold:

Going back to the days of ancient Greece, wrestling has always had a homosexual element to it.

While I am a little skeptical of the gimmick, hey it's 2010. It may actually draw members of the gay community to TNA, something WWE would never attempt.
And the theme music is pretty good.

I don't mean to rant here, but I think there's way too much steriotyping with Jordan's character.
I saw the debut of Jordan's new character on TNA, and I really detest the character and the two people with him and the whole angle and storyline so far. Let me tell you why:
I have nothing against homosexuals, bisexuals, and I do have something against homophobes, so this isn't about that. My problem is that I'm sick and tired of seeing people on tv being represented as a "gimmick" or just one thing just because they're different. There's a difference between Howard stern wearing a dress just to be fun as a part of his outrageous personality and Marilyn Manson wearing a freaky dress just to shock people.
It's obvious to me that Orlando Jordan's gimmick (basically his whole entire character) is that he's bisexual, and that's stupid. Just because he's bisexual doesn't mean that he's now ONE THING and that's just what he should be, it's lame. I wold feel the same about a man who's whole gimmick is that he's straight.
Look, living in 2010 should mean that gay people should be represented on tv too, I get that and that's fine, but 2010 should also mean that gay people should be represented on tv with SOMETHING ELSE OTHER than just being a punchline to a monolaugue. "Get it?! He's gay! dun dun ching!"
I'm all for equal rights with gay people. That means actually treating them, and yourself (yes, because an awful lot of gay people are guilty too) like a straight person is treated, and not so much "alternative" and that's it. If "alternative", then fine, but something else too.
Kanyon was on the right track. he incporporated being gay into his charactor. What was he before? A New York badass who was the innovator of violence. What was he after he came out of the closet? He was a gay New York badass who was the innovator of violence.
If you make this big switch and your character is that you are just gay, then how in any other charactor in wrestling who happens to be gay ever going to get a shot at the big time? "Sorry, you can't have a job here, the gay spot is already taken".
That's what offends me about it. It's bigotry. Self warrented bigotry. It's as bad as racism. If someone happens to be black, fine, don't just make their character revolve around the fact that they're black. As bad as that already is, it's also bad in the sense that no other black guy would get a shot anymore because they're "black role" is already taken. Atleast they didn't do THAT with Jordan. Oh wait, wherever he goes he always has to have rap music. Damn. Don't even get me started on what everyone does with asian people.
My point is, is that if it's bad to treat another race other than white as "alternative" (alternative to what? white as "mainstream"?) and therefor magically worthy of being treated as just one thing, then it's bad to do that with gay people or half-gay people.
What's more annoying, is that Jordan is a hell of an athlete and does have charisma aswell IMO. He has a hell of a skill set in boxing, got trained by Rocky Johnson, had a stellar boxing mini-career, and could actually be really great one day. But because he's bisexual, people have stupid philosophies like "either don't mention it at all, or if you do, throw away all that talent in exchange for it because being bisexual is enough", no, we don't need the other talents do we?
Urban legend is that he KOed Craig Titus, who was a freak of nature top pro bodybuilder and is now in prison for murder, arson by burning a car and the dead body. The man Ko'ed a ruthless murderer! THAT's something that could have been exploited if anything. They should have dome something between him and Pope D'anglelo or whatever his name is now, who was something like 100-0 in boxing. He should have been a tough guy boxer with an eccentric bisexual side, not just be bisexual.
What makes this all even worse, are the two people with him. I can't stand either of them and that's rare for me to say before even giving them a chance. I detest the girl more than the guy, don't ask me why. Their whole reason for even being there is strictly nothing more than to just glamorize and explaoit their personal lives, and that's it. No acting ability, no manager training, no promo training, no anything training. They guy's gimmick is that he has gay sex with Orlando Jordan. The girl's gimmick is that she has straight sex with Orlando Jordan. If the girl is Jordan's real life girlfriend, then neither of them have ANY work at all to do whatsoever. This is far worse than Paris Hilton, atleast she gets made fun of. If these two get harrassed by Flair, then good, they deserve it, as long as certain lines are not crossed. Atleast they'd be getting paid for something. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be mean, but as someone who would do the same thing, and as someone who asks for the same things in return as I would say, as long as it's fair and intelligent, I would actually ask for the same treatment If I were hired to do nothing and share a locker room with Ric Flair. That's if, ofcourse, I had any respect for the wrestling business. I would dress in the hall way, and If I were forced to enter the locker room, I would request to be punked out by Flair in front of everyone. I look at it from Flair's prespective, not mine. It's tremendous injustice, to think that everythinging you've done could be in vain.
I honestly don't know if Jordan was thinking when pitching this "gimmick" (not character). You can't just bring in someone who's sole purpose is to show everyone that they are with you in real life. Atleast Undertaker's wife had some talent and got stalked.
Don't even get me started on the "caution" tape. Hmmmm....So he's obviously wild, crazy, and insane by wearing that and acting like that, but why? I don't get why he's crazy like that, let's keep watching and see, and mabe I'll learn why he's a lunatic. OH! There it is! He's bisexual, now I know why he's a lunatic! I get it now!
I think true (and I strongly emphasize true) gay and bisexual people should be offended.

In a shorter answered way, I agree.
How is sexuality supposed to get over in any way if that's the only facet to his character when it has shit all to do with in-ring stuff.
'He's bi' ... ok, and?

Except theyve never said "Hes acting crazy cause he's bisexual". Currently my view on it isnt that hes weird because hes bisexual, its that he's eccentric AND bisexual- he celebrates and flaunts his bi lifestyle but also does some weird stuff too, like the caution tape shtick. I would like to see them play up his boxing stuff more though. Like, have be this unusual guy playing mind games, who can also knock someone the f*** out if they take exception to him. It'd be simple: Find a decent wrestler on the indies who just happens to be bi. Then, three-way love triangle. For added effect, make one of the guys the opposite of the other in look and attitude. Chris Hero? He goes both ways. Oh wait, he meant.....like....technical and.....other styles.

Well the thing is, is that they indirectly implied that by the way they introduced the character. when he was coming down, the commentators were like "what's wrong with him?', but when he revealed is bisexual stage, it was portrayed as the answer to the question. See, i don't believe that there is such a thing as a gay "lifestyle" or a bisexual "lifestyle', and I think that belief is part of the problem. Just like there is no such thing as a black "lifestyle", but people think that this is the way it's supposed to be, and so people act and talk and do other things that they call "black" when in reality it has nothing to do with being black. People unjustly link race to culture, and people also unjustly link sexual orientation to culture.

They showed him and his entourage in their bizarre getups and then the announcers were like "what's that all about? I don't know". Much of this (so far) 10 page thread is debate over speculation and rumors. He hasn't even talked yet for cripes sake! I also think people are missing the point. He's not bizarre because he's bisexual, he's bizarre because he showed up on Impact wrapped in caution tape in a weird stunt while flocked by a weird looking guy and girl. Most of the bisexual guys I know don't do that.

Whoever thought a thread about Orlando Jordan would reach 10 pages?
For that alone, I kinda see potential in this.
