...That doesn't want Paul Heyman anywhere near TNA? It's nothing against him. Really. The guy is responsible for some great wrestling. Hell, there is a very real possibility that we will end up loving his shows. In the end though, he'll wind up being just another titan from the past that couldn't cut the mustard. I think it all comes down to this for me: No matter how good "Paul E's TNA" might be, it'll still be stuff we have seen a million times before, and that is the last thing the company needs right now.
Instead of bringing Heyman out of retirement, I'd like to see them hire someone new for a change. I don't mean "go hire a Hollywood writer like Brian Gewitz" or "steal Gabe Sapolsky" either. Go to the Indy scene and find the next Scott D'Amore; that diamond in the rough who consistently books an interesting, solid show no matter the talent level available. Hire a Mike Burns or a Shirley Doe. What do they have to lose at this point? It might work, it might not. Either way, at least it will be something different.

If there's any "titan from the past" that I feel would cut the mustard, it's Paul E. I understand where you're coming from, but Paul has consistently proven when he has the reigns, it makes for exciting TV and storylines.

I would like Heyman in a commentary or manager position, but I'd rather they find someone new and different to write for them. Not just some former WWE or WCW writer, just some indy guy who could use a break - just to see what new ideas are out there if nothing else.

To me it seems like bringing him in would lead to another shift in direction, contributing to the instability and inconsistancy that defines TNA. If they could bring him in and settle down and set coherent, realistic goals and accomplish them then great. But, given how TNA operates, I think it would only be so much thrashing about, to be quickly followed by more of the same.

The argumant could be made that if he comes in it would be a stale retread, but he himself has stated that wrestling's "extreme" era is dead, and that the format of wrestling shows including Raw is stale and needs to change, and move into a more sports style presentation.
And his work thus far has yet to be a rehash of what he's done before. ECW, Smackdown, OVW, and WWECW have all been very different beasts from one another, while still retaining his "fingerprints" if you will. I think that with Heyman in charge, TNA would still feel like TNA but just have a better overall presentation and good booking. I highly doubt Sandman, Sabu, and Justin Credible would show up on his first show as the "hot new stars of TNA" or that TNA would suddenly have no rules.
That being said, I'm as open to someone new as I am to Heyman. I just want TNA to hire someone who actually knows what the hell to do with it.

I'm open to Heyman, but I feel like TNA doesn't need to bring in someone from the "golden days of the Monday Night Wars". Fresh blood is needed on the creative side of the industry, in a bad way. Hopefully, TNA can find that new wunderkind.

I think Heyman is the best man for the job. At this point I don't think TNA has any other real option. When Heyman is just booking he is a genius because he understands how to take a show and make it the best by hiding it's weaknesses.

No. I like Heyman, but I've always argued against him coming to TNA.

I guarantee that I would make the ratings go up better than Hogan/Bischoff/Russo/Heyman and I'd be a whole helluva lot cheaper.

Like I've said before, when Bischoff was discovered he was someone new and brought a lot of new ideas concepts to the table, some of which have changed the business and we know it. Paul Heyman would be great but I want TNA to find that new blood that WCW found back in the day.

It definitely wouldn't be a bad idea to bring in Heyman, but I too would like to see someone new in the booking department. Whoever it is might already work for TNA, after all would anyone have believed that Paul E. Dangerously would be one of the most important bookers of all time if they had been told that back when he was a manager.

Well, it's the internet, so it's impossible to be "The Only One" with anything.
Heyman's been willing to experiment with different booking styles outside of the typical ECW-ish chaos, so I'd be interested in his ideas.

I want Heyman in there as a manager. I also want Fonzie, Sabu, Raven, Dreamer...
Yes. I just want ECW recreated so I can mark for a few weeks... and never watch wrestling again when I get bored.

I wouldn't necessarily be against it, but I'm not fond of having too many cooks in the kitchen. Heyman would probably be fine if it's just him, but would he work well with Terry Taylor and/or Vince Russo? Would he work well under the filter of Bischoff and Hogan? Maybe it's yet to be seen, but I'm not one of those aching to have Heyman running the book.

I respectfully disagree. Heyman has simplified stories with basic human emotions that can easily be followed. He'd also be able to play into the strengths of TNA having superior in-ring performers that do not require a 4 minute match and 20 minute promo/video segment mess. They can tell the same story in the ring for 20 minutes and skip the promo, cater to the "pro wrestling" fans, and BRAND themselves as a true alternative -- not competition.

I'd be good with it. Think he'd put a solid, cohesive product out there.
Russo was doing a better job than Bisch is.
