I loved the original ECW as much as a lot of people did, but I'm just not getting into the EV2 thing. To me, the original ECW was not about hardcore wrestling and lighting people on fire. It was about being anti-establishment, and anti-mainstream. Seeing Hulk Hogan -- the very embodiment of mainstream wrestling -- giving his thumbs-up to the ECW guys just seemed wrong to me. Plus hearing Hogan tell them all "Welcome to TNA" seemed wrong also, since every one of those guys (minus Dreamer) was a part of TNA long before Hogan arrived. Especially Raven. He should have been welcoming Hogan to TNA, if anything. Then to hear Hogan telling the ECW guys that he missed ECW the first time around because he was ruling WCW... it just reminded me again of why ECW had such a cult following -- because fans got sick of watching Hulk Hogan ruling WCW.
I hate to sound like I'm bashing Hogan, because I do like him. But having him offering up EV2.0 to TNA fans just seems forced to me, and the ECW guys just seem like they are going through the motions.
Your thoughts?

This entire storyline was a bad idea from jump street. I didn't really start to sour on it until last week, but this week made it worse. I couldn't stomach the opening segment.

It seemed really out of place for Hogan to be out there with the ECW guys, I thought they were going to give him a beatdown.

To me, Hogan's coming out there and talking the way he did was his further taking the spotlight from who it should be on and putting it on himself.
I didn't watch you in ECW....because I was too busy playing politics in WCW....which as you all remember was where I started the NWO. Yadda...yadda....yadda.
I like Hogan. I love ECW nostalgia. But it's honestly just a bad idea. A good majority of the guys who MADE ECW either can't or won't work the show. It was fine back in '05....but now it's pointless.

Seems like Hulk wants to show that he's not all about burying anyone but him. Though you're right. Two different genres, and ECW was more of an anti-mainstream product while Hogan was as mainstream as it gets. They should naturally oppose one another, not welcome one another.

I thought it was interesting seeing them in the ring together, nowhere near as painful as watching Tommy Dreamer balling like a little girl and hugging Dixie Carter

I addressed this in another thread, but I think that if the ppv is successful, Hogan wants to be able to say that it's because he put the Hulk Hogan stamp of approval on it.

I agree with most of these statements. I am however looking forward too the RVD vs Jerry Lynn match and Raven vs Tommy Dreamer match. Should be a great night.

Raven gave Hulk a death stare during this promo. Most of the guys didn't seem thrilled with it. It wreaked of Dixie going "Hulk, go out there with them! You'll look so cute together!"
I liked "Abyss, you need to get up in a psychiatrists chair brother" with Stevie in the ring...

Bad enough the southern gentle milf gave the latest rehash of ECW her seal of approval last week. This week you had the living embodiment of what the original ECW was against standing in the ring singing their praises. How can a ECW diehard justified this? This shows that ECW is part of the status quo. What was outlaw and rebellious is now waterdowned and lame. It's like George Bush saying he enjoyed watching Michael Moore's movie especially "Fahrenheit 9/11".

Yeah I wondered about the Hogan thing with Abyss. I thought "Hey, Dr. Stevie is there in the ring with you..."
I wonder if Hogan even knows or realizes how much the guys he was in the ring with used to bury him on a weekly basis.

I feel like the world's biggest moron, but.... EV2.0? I still don't get what the V stands for. Or why, if they "changed the letters" from ECW to EV, that they would HAVE to put a 2.0 on it? Or is it all because V rhymes with C, and 2.0 could almost kind of sound like W if you bargle nawdle zous with all these marbles in your mouth?

Extreme Version 2.0 is what it probably means.

It shows how far Hogan has fallen.
Ten years ago Hogan wouldn't be caught dead with any of these guys in the ring.
Now we have ECW and Hogan both together for the first time. If TNA had a time machine and could travel back to 1999 - this would be something big.
Now, in the twilight/iMPACT zone its met with a bizare combination of apathy, facepalms and cheers.

That segment would have worked had all the EV2 guys just beat the hell out of Hogan and walked off laughing.

These guys stood by when Vince McMahon held the ECW title, I am sure they can stand Hogan.

Extreme Version 2.0 is what it probably means. I hadn't thought that, I was thinking Extreme Violence, but Version makes more sense given the stupid 2.0 part. Should have been EVW. But that'd probably get some lawyerin'
