Tag team partners who hate each other gave us the Rock and Sock Connection so I'll go with that. I also don't mind shades of grey so long as I can still have an idea of where the storyline is going.

Shades of gray. I don't think the business can evolve until they get rid of the face/heel split. It's always illogical that when a heel turns face, suddenly he's best friends with the wrestlers he was trying to kill three weeks prior. Shades of gray makes it more about legitimate rivalries between wrestlers rather than the do-gooder versus the mustache-twirler.

Poles.
While people can endlessly debate the man's inane booking with "shocking" heel turns and ridiculous SWERVE!s, there's no denying the man had a weird trend of relying on pole matches. I mean...of all things...a POLE!? Those matches were stupid even before Russo showed up.

I agree with Shades of Grey...to a point. While yes, it "I'm a heel now so I'm suddenly pals with the other heels" is annoying if you push it to the point where the audience has no idea who the heel or face is then you lose the major bottom line of wrestling - getting fans behind a wrestler so they'll pay to see his matches.

I have a question: Did Russo really invent the "tag partners who hate each other" booking? Lawler and Dundee did this stuff in Memphis for years, constantly feuding and then teaming. Sting and Luger did bizarre heel/face dynamics in WCW when Luger got back in 1995. And Sabu and RVD did a lot of these antics in ECW.

I'll go for pathetic attempts to liven up a heat-less feud by bringing up something personal... e.g. Nash's kids, AJ being kicked out the house as a teenager. Just amusing and eyeroll-worthy when done the Russo way.

This. I despise shades of gray because it leads me to simply not care about who is doing what.
