Loved his promo, and it seemed to me he was subtlely referencing the nWo takeover. Definately had the vibe of "those who don't learn from history are destined to repeat it"

I have to think after that promo that Nexus will absolutely turn on Sheamus and the others who refused to fight alongside him probably at MITB. As for Arn himself, he showed that he can STILL out promo most guys. I said it in the Raw thread and Ill repeat it, he should be teaching promo 101 down in FCW

He absolutely still has it. He showed tons of believable emotion and intensity (yes, even with the possible gaffe) that should be used helping a new star that's not too good on the mic. He should be on TV more often.

It also made me wonder...
If Hogan was on good terms with WWE and wasn't ruinin...er running TNA, do you think McMahon would have brought him in to be a Nexus victim, after he gives a promo mentioning his nWo past?

Anderson's reference was effectively subtle and it would be cool if others from that time referenced the same thing; like Big Show stressing the need for a united front when NXT does show up on Smackdown, as he knows the dangers when a company remains divided.

I don't know if Big Show would be the best person for that, as he changed allegiances from WCW to nWo on a monthly basis, it seems.

However, Show's experience with that could also allow him to make some gains against the Nexus group, as he's been on both sides and knows all the tricks.

Sheamus came across as an oblivious idiot though (not his fault, the writer's undermined his character's intelligence in that promo). I realise that it was the point, but they made it too obvious for my liking.

Very solid promo clearly referencing the NWO (It might be more subtle to younger fans however) and what happened to WCW. I like the WWE comparing the Nexus to the NWO (Even if Hogan, Nash, and Hall were bigger more established names and that the Outsiders with Hogan were a much bigger threat then the Nexus will ever be) because it makes the Nexus seem bigger to younger fans who don't know their history.

Referencing the nWo was good I guess but the comparisons are still over the top.

Do you know what the best thing about Arn Anderson's promos was? He never gave the same promo twice. That's how good he was.

I loved the promo, but it just falls flat to me. I mean you got a bunch of second rate green punks - especially Shamus that shouldn't even be winning matches, let alone Main Eventing. Yeah, I know - old school don't work no more . . . and I can just quit watching . . . and when football season comes around - I might - but I'm sorry fellas wrestling just sucks for me right now unless its on 24/7.

Concurred, but after watching that promo... The "sign of things to come" vibe really hit me. I feel like there was an Arn promo like this for the nWo during the Outsiders angle, pre-Hogan forming the nWo. Arn sets a great mood always and this is why I'm always amazed that guys like Arn are not made into managers or on screen personalities... they convey genuine emotion that makes people care. . If only I could give a damn about the WWE side in this... I enjoyed watching the nWo takeover as a 11 year old kid who still wanted to believe... hated the nWo... and cheered wildly for Lex Luger's title win to bring the title back to WCW for a week. Rooting for heels just bores me... because with pro-wrestling, the face in a major angle should always get the victory to end the angle. Send the audience home happy after jerking them around a few times thinking they won't get a happy ending. That promo would have really excited me about pro-wrestling again. Unfortunately, the older I get, the less I enjoy pro-wrestling because the less I can identify with the faces and not identifying or rooting for faces just seems to have destroyed most of what was once magical to me.

As I mentioned in the mudhole thread; the man showed he's still one of the best. I hope he's helping teach young guys promo work.
One thing I've always loved about Arn, he doesn't have to do the stereotypical wrestler yelling and screaming shit to sound intense etc. The man is just great.

One thing I've always loved about Arn, he doesn't have to do the stereotypical wrestler yelling and screaming s*** to sound intense etc. The man is just great. I always dug that about him. He usually didnt yell. He drew you in with his intensity. When he *did* yell, it was usually with purpose.
