He might be intense in ROH but right now he's being seen by a wide audience as some smiley, sarcastic twat. Well, he's being seen by you that way. I don't know that that qualifies as a "wide audience," though. This part of the wide audience sees him as someone who has been subjected to such ridiculous indignities by Miz over the past year that he finds it absolutely sublime every time he gets the chance to humiliate him. It's the back-and-forth beginnings of a feud that could eventually get intense, if they can ever prove to one another that each of them are worth taking seriously. Right now, Miz thinks Bryan's a total loser and that his wrestling isn't a good enough reason to respect him. Right now, Bryan thinks Miz can't wrestle his way out of a paper bag, and the rest of what he does well isn't enough to make up for it. So, Miz disrespects Bryan by subbing someone else into the match they were supposed to have. And Bryan disrespects Miz by smiling ear to ear as he makes both of them tap out. And it's going to go on that way until the competition between them has become fierce enough that each of them sees a worthy competitor in the other. And if this feud goes on long enough for that to happen, what comes out of it is gonna be something to remember. The wide audience being the people who haven't seen him in ROH and haven't seen his 'intense fueds'. They see a guy who was bullied by his mentor for two months and ripped apart on commentary and now he walks out every week with a cheesy grin. I get what you mean about it going somewhere but it's just annoying to see him every week looking like he doesn't give a crap about this fued or what he's doing. That's how I think it will look to some of the 'WWE Universe'.

What are you smilin' about smiley?
Doesn't bother me. He's been picked on by Miz, and now he's getting some payback. I'd laugh too.

I took it as he was proving a point to Miz, and enjoying making him submit. He can be intense as hell when he wants to be, judging by some of his ROH matches I've seen. He might be intense in ROH but right now he's being seen by a wide audience a few nitpicking people as some smiley, sarcastic twat. Shit was hilarious. I love it every time he does it. He gets sick joy in hurting people he hates.

He is supposed to be sadistic. He has been wanting to hurt miz, and he finally gets to of course he smiles.
He did intense at summerslam, now he is chomping at the bit to make miz tap out

He gives off a hipster vibe sometimes. I saw it on NXT during his opening promo and he name drops people like Kurt Vonnegut Jr. on his Twitter. I like when he smiles; it's like, "Really? I still have to wrestle the Miz and Miz jr.?"
Even as a face, I like Bryan to have a level of sarcasm to him.

He's content in the fact that at any moment, he can own The Miz in the ring. This. I like the smiling for that very reason.

Anyone else find this really annoying? It's like he's not even trying to take anything seriously. He had the lebell lock on Miz last night and instead of looking intense applying pressure on the move he just sat there with a cheshire cat grin on his face. And this guy is meant to be likeable? Nice knowing you on this board. It's a sin to to say Daniel Bryan is annoying!

He does look a bit too pleased with himself, which makes me wonder despite Miz not doing much with the US Belt that Bryan will lose at Night of Champions. Pride goeth before a fall and all that.

I agree 100%. His smile really annoys me, he needs to fix this as it clearly bothers more than just me on a site where he appears to be viewed as a god.

I don't mind it. He's happy to be humiliating the Miz. He's brought out the intensity when it's been necessary.

I don't think anybody who is NOT holding a strap can pull off the smiling thing, without looking like a total ponce. This is especially bothering, when the person is a babyface, and NOT supposed to be a douche-bag.

I like it. He has a great smile, but srsly, it's time for #realtalk.
I honestly like it, because he's very happy to be beating the holy hell out of Miz all the time, which I can understand, so that completely justifies the whole "smile all the time" thing to me. It also make him seem more face-ish to the people watching, if you know what I mean. A lot of people don't know his stuff pre-WWE, I'm sure, so it makes him come across as more of a face, especially to the little kids. That's why they like Cena so much, because he smiles all the time.
Just my take on the thing. c:
