Ok, fans of the game don't get me wrong. I respect the fact you're fans but over here I've gotten tired of it and for the first time ever I HATE a video game. It kinda started months ago with Halo 3. I used to go over to my best friend's girlfriend's house with him months ago and play 3 with her brother. I enjoyed it some initially but after a while I'd try to leave or ask him to leave but couldn't because he wanted to play Halo.
As the summer went on I got tired of getting trapped and playing it so I stopped going over with him. He got an X-Box and bought Halo:Reach and I will say I looked forward to playing but thats when the trouble began. Everytime I'd go over he would pull up a chair and demanded I sit down without giving me a chance to say anything. By the end of the month I decided to take things in stride and I would make jokes about the game and he would respond back with insults rather than jokingly like he would any other game. Soon I stopped playing all together and started noticing how much it affected the behavior of him and my other friends in the group. He began getting pissy with me because I wouldn't play and each time I'd make a joke about him playing it he would snap at me.
The worst part was while this was transpiring he began being dickish toward his girlfriend to the point where she'd come over to spend time with him only to spend the whole night sitting on his bed while he played Halo. I noticed it affected another friend of mine's relationship as he stopped going out because he became addicted to the game as well. The last few weeks I've been insulted and taunted by him because of not playing. I maintain I don't like playing because I find the game uninteresting and not appealing to me. I never thought a video game would have bad effects on people(I criticized Jack Thompson's GTA stance harshly) but its as if every one of my friend's either turns into total dicks or turns into zombies during the game.
It's borderline scary, anyone else experience this or anything similar?

So you don't hate Halo: Reach. You hate the fact that it's swallowed your best friends girlfriends brother?

Yeah. That's not Halo:Reach's fault. It's happening as much or moreso with WOW, Call of Duty and even stuff like Farmville and Angry Birds. It's happened with Sims, Dungeons and Dragons and stuff years before that.
But whatever the game, at the end of the day it's the person playing's problem. These games don't contain subliminal messages or contain soundtracks with messages playing in reverse. Practically anything in excess can be a bad thing.

It's kind of similar with my best friend and Call of Duty.
He was never big on military stuff or anything army related, but once he started playing MW2, he can now identify almost any kind of gun, and is currently thinking about joining the army. And it pisses me off because when I try to confront him about it, he shrugs it off and says "it's reality".
WTF?! This game f***ing brainwashes people, and that message hasn't been any more louder and clearer with the Black Ops "There's a soldier in all of us" commercials. I never liked Call of Duty, but it's grown from dislike to full on hatred.

Yeah, WoW addicts are like 1000% worse. Consider yourself lucky.
One possible solution would be to find another multiplayer game that you both enjoy playing. Someone who actually owns a 360 could probably help you out with that (PS3 for liiiiife, myself).

There's a huge difference.

I won't go further since my thoughts sort of cross the no politics rule here.

I first started noticing that shit after Counter-Strike came out. Suddenly every one of my friends had an opinion on which guns were the best in the world, and shockingly it was the "highest level" guns in the game. The worst comment I've ever heard was "dude, they stole all of the guns from Call of Duty 4" in every shooter after it came out, like they invented them just for the game. Just....f***ing WHAT?! Don't even try to convince them that silencers don't make guns sound like tiny kittens and that guns jam in real life...

And you can thank movies for making people think that suppressors make the shot silent. They don't muffle the noise for crap, really. But yeah, there are a lot of misinformed gamers out there.
