I was first introduced to the story through McDuck. But I always liked Albert Finney's Scrooge. However I voted for Caine.

Michael Caine's perfomance was so good that you forget for a second that his co-stars are muppets.

Michael Caine. Muppet Christmas Carol is the best adaptation of A Christmas Carol that has been made. We shall have to agree to disagree good sir -_- Because I thinjk Scrooged is... I can watch Scrooged at any time of the year... The other Christmas Carols I can only watch in the Christmas Season Thus is the power of Bill Murray

Whenever I thing of Ebenezer Scrooge, I think of Scrooge McDuck. My parents had to hide my taped VHS of Mickey's Christmas Carol to keep me from watching it over and over year-round when I was little.

My parents have at least fifteen different version of A Christmas Carol on VHS, DVD, and/or digital. I've seen everyone from Henry Winkler and Jack Palance to Susan Lucci and Jack Klugman (as Oscar Madison) attempt to put their own unique spin on the Scrooge character. My top three:
George C. Scott - His Scrooge actually felt like a real person instead of a one-dimensional caricature.
Alistair Sim - Anyone think that Mr. Burns from The Simpsons was at least partially based by his performance? I certainly do...
Mr. Magoo - Sure, the story is a bit thin and all of the songs (save for "We're Reprehensible") stunk, but he still made a damn fine Scrooge.
An honorable mention goes to Sir Seymour Hicks, who played Scrooge in the obscure 1935 version. The script wasn't the best, all of the other actors were several shades of bad, and for some reason, Bob Cratchit had enough kids to make his own football team. Still, the fact that Sir Hicks was able to perform a heartfelt, moving soliloquy in front of the corpse - yes, corpse - of Tiny Tim without coming off as creepy or horrifying makes him worth a mention.
Oh... Reginald Owen should have been on the list as well. He wasn't George C. Scott, but he was by no means bad.

"other" for Albert Finney. His version has always been my favorite over the years.
