21. A few of them I had an idea of what they were but didn't have the full answer.

I got 34 Near the beginning I put North Pacific than forgot to come back to it. Of course the answer was obviously South Pacific. EPIC FAIL! Also a couple of other things I noticed looking at the answers: *Put in Eisenhower, but misspelled his name or put Dwight in front of it. *Almost got Hypodermics on the Shores, but put "Hypodermics on the Shore" instead, leaving out the "s" at the end. *Actually a few too many to go in detail about, but got the parts of answers on several of them, but misspelled them or forgot the entire lyric. I.E. Reagan, Krushchev, Ayatollah's in Iran, etc.

I actually memorized the song. The problem, however, is not knowing how to spell everything.

*Almost got Hypodermics on the Shores, but put "Hypodermics on the Shore" instead, leaving out the "s" at the end. Same thing here. Fought with that one longer than I thought I would have to. Spelling demons that cost me lots of time: Panmunjom, thalidomide (I can NEVER spell that when making a reference to it). I forgot who Liston beat for a minute (because I seemingly always want to think "Alison" and I think, "Who the heck was 'Alison?' He was a race car driverin an altogether different decade.) I also got the lyrics out of order and jumped to Roy Cohn way early, Brooklyn's baseball, and did the same with California baseball. With 45 seconds left, I finally finished with 120.

I got 20, but then again that is probably how many years has passed since I last heard the song as well.

104 out of 120 and only missed those because I can't spell to save my damn life.
And technically, it should be 119. Starkweather homicide is ONE line, not two.
LOVE. This. Song. #2 on my all time favorite song list.

I thought I did good with 87, but I just listened to that song earlier today so it was kind of cheating.

got close to 60. I remember my sophomore year in High School we had to take the lyrics to this song and write why those things were significant. Haven't worried much about it since then.. that would have been in the late 80's ? OMG am I old

Tiannamin Square (China under martial law) was in June of that year, as I recall, so just in time to make the cut. Actually, I think this should be the theme song of history teachers everywhere and should be used to teach modern pop culture history, since it covers a lot of stuff missed these days in history classes. At least in my experience, not a lot of survey courses in high school get very deep past World War II, but maybe that has changed.

At least one of mine did in 10th grade, which was fun. The same teacher also used "Cult of Personality" by Living Color to teach about Stalinism. Fun class.
