I hate it very very much, working as a data entry clerk. I've had office jobs before and everything was okay, there was a lot to do except sit in front of the computer and enter information for 8 hours straight. Nothing else, just enter the same data over and over, its so boring and way too easy. I went for an interview today ,and all looks good. except that the jobs start 2nd week of jan, Lets see if i make it at this one till then (Most likely not)

Office Space is one of the funniest movies ever, until you work in a place like that. Then, you realize the movie is pretty much exactly how it is to work in a hell-hole like that. The satire dissapears, it practically becomes a documentary.

Sounds like my last job. I miss the paycheck, but I don't miss the job at all. It was okay for a while, then it just started sapping my will to live. It was made worse by the schedule, which, when coupled with the commute, made sure I had no time before or after the job to actually do anything. After a little over 2 years of doing nothing but going to work and going back home, I'd had enough. But I held on until the end, since I didn't have any other ideas.
I still don't. But I'm still glad I'm not working there anymore.

I've had a job like this. Mind-numbing and spirit-crushing, i don't know how anyone can maintain it for any substantial amount of time.

Here here! As a person who has recently worked in this type of job environment, Yes! I used to have to fight an epic battle with boredom and falling asleep every day in the office.

Man, where you guys when I posted my "I hate my job" thread some time ago? All I got was people telling me I should be happy to have it, even though it was making me hate my life.

The satire dissapears, it practically becomes a documentary. I have seen it , for some reason I thought the show The office was mentioned (i've never seen it ). Office space is a great movie, because a lot of what is portrayed in that movie is pretty accurate about office work. I just hope this dosent happen to me

Man, where you guys when I posted my "I hate my job" thread some time ago? All I got was people telling me I should be happy to have it, even though it was making me hate my life. Thats EXACTLY how i feel , i didnt have a job for four months, and sure it was a little depressing- but it did not make me hate my life. This is making me want to start drinking again, heavily

Just be glad your not working in back breaking labor. If I had the option, I would gladly go back to my past position of clerk over my current one of warehouse work.

Maybe it's because I've never had a job like that, but it doesn't sound bad. I feel like I'd rather get paid good morning to do be bored out of my mind for 8 hours a day than get paid minimum wage to bust my butt for an indefinite amount of time. Plus I hate interacting with co-workers. Customers are fine, but other employees drive me insane.

Know the feeling dude.
All my jobs bar one have been in either offices or call centres and I've despised everyone.
Just sat there in a cubicle, doing the same thing day after day working with people who you don't like, doing work that doesn't to have a purpose.
One of my jobs was scanning all the companies files onto the computer system. A good 90% of the files were covered in dust and obviously hadn't been opened for five years.
I just failed to see the point since they weren't needed.
Hated it, plus it was all for minimum wage with little to no chance of rising up the ladder and actually getting a decent job out of it too.
It's why I decided to go to college. I just wouldn't be able to stand doing work like that for the rest of my life.

To say I hate my job doesn't even begin to cover it. I don't even know how to describe it well enough to make anyone here really FEEL how awful it is. Soul-crushing and demoralizing is just the tip of the iceberg. There is no job satisfaction to be had. You do not go home after a long day's work feeling like you've accomplished anything. Depression, anxiety, stress, exhaustion and shell-shock are the rewards.
I have been lied to, conned, called names, accused of things, screamed at, insulted in all kinds of languages, ignored, put-down, and so on...sometimes all in one day. I've been accused of corruption, racism, male chauvinism, had my family insulted, etc. I haven't been physically attacked yet but that's probably because I'm so big. I wouldn't even be surprised if I'm shot someday.
My job? Daycare worker. I work in the front office. You would not believe some of the stories I could tell.

Are the pay and benefits good or do you have physical limitations? I know I might be jumping to conclusions and easier said then done but why don't you quit?
