Sorry, Room, but the dunk was better. Unlike the typical "boring" dunks, Smith went flying from like 5 or 6 feet away from the rim and slammed it in. If anything, he flew more than the MMA fighter doing his "kick". And honestly, when you break it down the kick wasn't that awesome. He pushed off the cage, and it looks like he freaking missed the guy! If anything, it looks like the guy fell down because he was trying to avoid the kick. So the "flying kick" gets points for effort, but isn't better than the dunk because it didn't truly succeed. The dunk, however, did succeed, and it was sweet.

Sorry but the kick wins.... i would vote for the dunk if the rim was a moving target like henderson.

Watch the video you can hear the foot hit head. Also just the balls to try that and after 24 min of a one on one fight

Unlike the dunk, the kick needed the help of a push off of the wall to go airborne. The dunk was 5 feet of flight without needing to push off of an additional surface beside the floor, thus it is better.

I voted for the kick. one of the coolest things i've seen ever in an mma ring but i could be biased as i enjoy MMA much more than i enjoy basketball

Well thanks for showing us the dunk. OK, it was a pretty sweet dunk, but I still liked the kick better. I've seen plenty of great dunks before - but great flying roundhouse kicks are far more rare. ESPN promotes NBA way more than MMA, so the choice doesn't surprise me.

If that kick ended the fight then and there, then if would've been #1. But since it didn't, the dunk wins hands down.

The man flew, FLEW. Much better than jumping off the cage, which should be illegal in my opinion

after watching the videos one thing i have to comment on is the great commentary in the NBA video. "we've just seen a man fly" is such a great line

In the dunk, the guy flew 5 feet and probably could've gone for a greater length if the basket wasn't in the way. In the kick, the guy went what, two feet? Hell he could've done that kick WITHOUT kicking off of the cage wall. It was just a freaking jump kick. I've seen plenty of those in MMA.

Just a jump kick, or to be more technical, a wall run jump kick.

How is the balls to try it and the fact he actually hit the wall kick not impressive to you? Hell the guy would have the initial kick blocked but the wall jump was how he got the guys guard down to begin with.

Hell the guy would have the initial kick blocked but the wall jump was how he got the guys guard down to begin with. Because, it just isn't impressive. Creative, yes. Impressive, no. Especially since you need to watch the video to even tell he hit it. Looking at the gif makes it look like he missed. If anything, he's LUCKY that it hit. And, as someone else said, if the kick in and of itself ended the fight right then and there, then yeah, I'd be impressed, but it didn't.

It was a buzzer beater too. He got the dunk within .6 seconds of the buzzer going off. That was in round 3 of a 5 round decision. The dunk was better. Straight up. And I'm normally all about complaining about ESPN. I will be the first one to pull straws on ESPN. But that dunk was awesome.

If there was some sort of award for unnecessary anger, the OP and this thread would get it. Both were sweet and there's no reason to get heated because of a Top 10 list. Even on SportsNation the vote was 51% to 49%, so it's not like they weren't close.

That clip was the "f*** you!" to all douche bags who say flying kicks never work in a real fight.
