I just watched this film again as I'm kind of on a Jim Carrey kick. I think this is probably his best overall acting performances. Surprised he didn't get at least nominated for an academy award for this one.

This was the second of back-to back rediculous Oscar snubs for Carrey (the Truman show in 1998, being the other) Carrey absolutely NAILED the persona of Andy Kauffman.

I liked "The Truman Show" but could see why it would get overlooked by the academy. Still, that year I was just looking at the nominees and they were pretty thin. I also like Carrey in his technically new film "I Love You Phillip Morris" and think that is still eligible this year. There is one annoying fault I found with his performance in it (his shifting of accents, which seems unintentional at times), but I am not sure if I have seen anything better in a lead role this year.

I believe he won a Best Actor award at the Golden Globes both those years.

Carrey is a surprisingly good serious actor. Another film that he's great in is "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind".
And Man on the Moon is good. I watched it at the cinemas.

"So...ya wanna see Andy? Anybody got a flashlight and a couple of shovels?" lol, I was thinking about that song a lot after watching it. Remember how much airplay it got in 1999? In retrospect it wasn't THAT great of a song, especially to justify how much airplay it got, but I was grateful for it at the time. Especially considering that 1999 was such a terrible year for music. Boys bands, Britney Spears, nu metal, the list just goes on. Thank goodness that time is over.

Take into consideration that it was recorded for REM's "Automatic For The People" album and originally released as a single Nov. 21, 1992 and the "Man On The Moon" soundtrack was released November 23, 1999, it abides by the Seven Year Rule.Think about that. Let that sit in your mind-grapes for a little bit. Pretty neat...eh?

Then seven years later in 2006 King Booker's King's Court formed. Does this mean that in 2013 REM will debut in the WWE as new members of the King's Court? Will they then turn on Booker and help Stevie Ray win his first WWE title!? SWERVE!

I feel he was very under appreciated in the Majestic as well, that is a damned fine movie that it seems no one talks about.

I'm a hardcore Eternal Sunshine fan, but The Majestic was FANTASTIC. It's pretty sad that he's proven himself time and time again in these serious roles, and yet people still think of him as a slapstick guy.

But then I saw him in The Number 23 and thought he was a really good dramatic actor. I did enjoy man on the moon but I didn't feel it added anything to his acting creditability since he was essentially doing an impression for that role.

Loved Man on the Moon, went to it opening day with my dad because he's a huge Kaufman fan. Totally feel that Carrey got screwed out of a nomination for this film.

Just look at how many views this song has. It's one of my favorite songs ever though. Now thank you very much I will listen to this song five times in a row before going downstairs doing important stuff.

The Number 23 is kind of a crappy movie but he was great in it. He's a fantastic serious actor, I wished more people could see that.
