Since it was brought up in two comments, yes, it can. If you pull it at the right time, and the guy bumps at the right time, then it's done right, at least this is what I listened to, and again, maybe I'm going too much on what wrestlers are saying, but I'm pretty sure with the types of matches they usually wrestle in, Raven and Tommy Dreamer don't just waffle each other with chairs willy nilly. So, a lot of practice can be gotten, and you can make it safe. That's what it seems you're supposed to do in wrestling. A lot of guys don't know how to throw a working punch. They don't know how to pull it, and still make it look good, but that comes with training and experience. And that's one reason why I was disappointed in Jeff, because he should know this, and after listening to what Lance Cade said about the day of his injury, which started his downward spiral into addiction, is that it could have been prevented. What happened with Mr. Anderson could have been prevented. You say, the skull is not strong enough to protect you from a metal chair being swung at force. That's why you work it, you pull it, you have the guy bump at the right time, so it barely touches him, or it doesn't touch him at all. If you go and all out level the guy, you're a retard, and that guy's a retard for wanting to take it, and yeah, they shouldn't be doing it. But, if guys are professionals, they can do it. You don't have it done by idiots, you have it done by professionals and people who you can trust in that position. You take precautions. If it can't be done without hurting the guy, it shouldn't be done. And yes, I know about Phineas Gage, I learned about him in psychology class in university when I went to university. It's good that ROH and WWE took notice, but it sucks TNA fell behind. Banning chairshots puts a patch on a sinking ship. It's not chairshots that are the problem. It's carelessness. Ok, you get rid of chairshots? What about the other moves, many of which could injure people? The root problem isn't being addressed. That's why I hate when politicians and media people talk about steroids in wrestling. The problem is drugs in general, not just steroids. They're just thinking about one topic, and not looking at the whole issue, and that's my issue with chairshot bans, as it's not the root of the problem. I agree with all this. The fact that guys still go in the ring and kill themselves and work very stiff is stupid within itself. Look at freaking Kurt Angle. The guy isn't going to be able to walk if he keeps going like he does for five more years. Sure many people in the business don't like him because he is a cocky son of a bitch but they need to start listening to Raven. Doing a bunch of moves that kill you may look good but doing less moves and making them look better than all the big spots that guys usually do will prolong your career much longer. That's why I love Amazing Red. He realized that for quite a while he was going to so fast and hard that he got seriously hurt. Now he has slowed his style down and is doing a lot less. He was always really crisp with his moves and is very athletic but he did so much that it really hurt him and he had to take a year or two out of the business to heal up and come back with a smarter style. Rey Mysterio did the same thing. I know people on here hate him personally for no reason but the guy is brilliant for slowing down his style because he doesn't need all the high spots. He can't get over with what he does now.

Ugh. I still maintain the banning of things of this nature is too far in the other direction, but whatever. Once in awhile won't hurt anything too badly, and chairshots only look good if they're to the head in the first place.

Granted, it should have happened sooner, but I'm just glad they're banning them period.
They still look brutal regardless, and I find it more believable when the receiver protects themself by having their character attempt to block the shot.

For those interested.
This is owned by RF Video, NOT WWE as it's RF video footage, which is a reason why I believe I can post this. It's fancam footage and can be sold by RF video because of that. I just double checked the rules, and it's just WWE owned footage, and this is RF Video owned footage, and this would likely go under the situation with TNA videos. HE'S FAT! Anyway, Raven talks about chairshots.
At one point in the video, he hits Dreamer flat on the back with a chair and talks about always wanting to try to hit flat on the back, which is different from Jeff Hardy being incredibly careless and getting Anderson in the back of the head.

I'm cautiously happy about this news. Happy because with everything now known about the issues relating to head trauma, I honestly don't believe we need chairshots to the head (or debatebly at all nowadays).
Cautious because I can't be the only person on here who can visualise in the not so distant future:
Mike Tenay: Oh my god... He just hit him over the head with a steel chair! But, but...didn't <whoever> say that chairshots to the head were banned here in TNA?
Tazz: Yup. Chairshots were banned outright after Mr Anderson's concussion. This just goes to show how black hearted, evil and totally uncaring for <wrestler who got hit>'s safety <wrestler who swung the chair> is. He's totally ruthless.
<TNA management representative walks down the ramp>
Mike Tenay: Look, <TNA management representative> is here! He's sure to have something to say about this. A huge fine, or maybe even a dismissal looks likely.
<TNA management representative> hugs <wrestler who threw the chair shot>/
Tazz: They're all in on it together!
Mike Tenay: Damn you <heel stable responsible>...
I'm really hoping this is a genuine act on TNA's part, but if it should turn out to be a story arc building swerve, I'm also sad to say that could see it coming.
Here's hoping I'm just being overly cynical.

They've already done an angle with one wrestler feuding with another over "shooting" on them (with Traci Brooks I think, before the Hogan era started), so it wouldn't surprise me if this banning was just another swerve.

I find it a little timing friendly that they did this right as the EV2 angle is dieing down.
