Who the hell would give a handheld to a 6 year old?
It wouldn't be good for their eyes in developing, never mind going blind.

Virtual Boy...TWO.
Seriously, this could be a disaster. That is just...so...stupid. If you're gonna make something like that, you have to be aware of the defects and if they are that bad, don't make the damn thing.
Gamers don't play for 30 minutes at a time Nintendo. Sorry.
And the whole function that turns off the 3D? That's the selling point of your device! Thats why little kids will want it.
You are basically paying for a normal Nintendo DS.

3 points....
1. Did Nintendo learn Nothing from the Virtual Boy fiasco?
2. It's only "proven" in kids 6 and under.....put a warning label on it.
3. The "Take a Break" warning's been on every game since the NES....does anyone actually do that?

Who the hell would give a handheld to a 6 year old? It wouldn't be good for their eyes either way, never mind going blind. I dunno about that. I owned a gameboy at around that age. Isn't this who Nintendo is marketing toward anyway. Kids 5 and up?

Isn't this who Nintendo is marketing toward anyway. Kids 5 and up? I always thought it was 6 and up seeing as kids were a tonne more developed by that point to actually use the thing right and not have it effect how you look. But having said that, I'm a guy who never had any kind of handheld until I started University because of parent restrictions. But also remember, the fact they're coming out and saying it NOW instead of letting crap happen and then shrugging their shoulders saying 'How did THAT happen?' should at least be commended, especially if they couldn't sort out the eventualities in any way. It's basically up to parents to decide if they want it for their kid. I know I'm still going to get one at some point. Having an actual strong 3rd party line up developing for it? I'm up for that, never mind the 3D stuff.

Why in the hell would you buy a 3D gaming system?

Nintendo is just covering their butts. Just like companies who recall things ahead of the time of a possible accident. Smart decision IMHO.

I'm sure the problem will be fixed when they release the 3DSiXL six months later.

Look, the 3-D is an annoying gimmick anyways, that will probably pass by the time the system comes out. Just give me a souped up DS with Virtual COnsole and Zelda 64 and I'll be set.

Who the hell would give a handheld to a 6 year old? It wouldn't be good for their eyes in developing, never mind going blind. I played the original game boy when I was 6, and it didn't hurt my eyes. And considering the screen on that thing, I'm surprised it didn't do any damage.

Where does it say anything about going blind.

Where does it say anything about going blind. It doesn't. Publications and media sources just like to make it seem that way so more people go to their channel/website. Basically, it kind of states the obvious things other places have said about 3D. Hell, what other places have said about handhelds or anything electronic these days.

Except in the 3DS, it isn't. It actually works, and in some of the games, does enhance the experience. And dude, the 3DS is coming out in 3 months, no way in hell 3D will pass by then.

How is being proactive a problem? How is concern for public health and safety a problem? A company does the right thing and they get called out for it?

Did anyone actually read the article? Like those shouting did they learn nothing from Virtual Boy must not have read the paragraphs about the parental lock out ability of the 3D feature, and other such points.
