Yeah I can't stand or don't get Facebook. Twitter yes, Facebook no. I'm the exact opposite. I think Twitter has got to be the most useless thing the internet has created, and that's saying a lot. From a business standpoint - I understand the value of twitter moreso than facebook. I don't have a FB account, but people have shown me thiers' and shown me what it can do. Its just not for me. If I didn't make the effort to stay connected to someone, I don't want to "reconnect" to them later on. My current friends I see enough in meatspace that I don't really want to talk to them online. If I've got your cell or email address - that's all I need. I really think there's a lot of "everyone is doing it . .. " mentality with facebook as it really doesn't offer anything new or interesting in terms of its platform or user interface. Twitter has value in that if you have a business (especially small) its great if you can get people to subscribe to your twitter account so you can announce deals, specials, promotions, etc. I've scored a lot of deals and free stuff from local businesses by following them on twitter because the tweets are sent to my mobile and then I can jump on limited time deals. There's a tattoo shop in SF that is featuring a twitter only deal. Once a month they're giving away a free tattoo to those who show up to the shop first after they post a new design. But, in all honesty, both facebook and twitter serve the exact same purpose as an email account with a well groomed address book.

Just delete it if it angers you so much. Facebook hardly seems like something you need to be this annoyed about... Wait a second. You know how to delete a Facebook account? Are you god or something? Because those things are worse than the bloody highlander ;D. In all seriousness though, if you hate facebook so much, you should just deactivate the account like Lennon says. Sad thing is I meant to put "Deactivate" but left it thinking nobody would notice...

It's a really great place to masturbate to ex-girlfriends, and allows one the privacy not usually allotted via the ladder pressed up against their bedroom window. And I like it because I am on there, and I'm kinda awesome. This has to be the most honest answer in this thread.

If it wasn't for FB I would have never met some really awesome friends who I'm in the better for for having met them. And I lost contact with my family for roughly 11 years. it was finally through Facebook that they found me again. Yeah, my wife has reconnected with her sister, cousins, and other family members with whom she lost contact. I'm not saying Facebook is the greatest thing since multiple orgasms, but it's not as evil as some would have you think, either. {Spoiler}And for the record, the wife lost touch with the family over time, with everyone assuming that everyone else would forward contact information; when nobody did, everyone lost each other's numbers and whatnot.

The other reason is that people expect that everybody is on Facebook. I had a high school reunion a few years ago. Invitations were Facebook-only. When was this? Cause facebook didn't explode in popularity until 2008ish (maybe mid-to late 2007) I got my facebook in 2007 and I was one of first of my friends to get it, and I'm from a country that has one of the highest numbers of FB users per capita of the population.

I think the greater question is: Why should anyone give a damn if you give a damn about Facebook?
Like it or don't.

Facebook is great in finding old friends but all the other stuff like Farmville I could care less about. I do wish Facebook members would actually put a photo of themself on their page and not a photo of their dog or kid. That defeats the pupose.

I actually can't see the big deal on Twitter. If you want to type something 160 characters or less, THEN TEXT!
