I just got my new computer installed and tried to connect my wireless router to it and it couldn't connect to the internet. I switched ethernet cords and connected to my main router and everything works, but I can't get it to work with the router.
For those wondering, my router is a Netgear WGR714, and my new computer is a Dell Inspiron.
Thanks in advance.

one thing that usually works is turning off the router and than resetting it, if that does not work try installing the Netgear driver on your'e new computer. also check this out kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1110

So I figured out what's wrong...I had the two wires mixed up. The one that wasn't connected to our modem box was the one plugged into the computer.
This may be one of the biggest fails of my life.

I hate my wireless router. It sometimes just keeps disconnecting every five minutes at night and I would have to go downstairs unplugging it to get it back working. It sucks when your roommates who live downstairs are away for the holidays.
