I have to agree with Frank Gotch on the bandwagon fan part. For example, I'm a Detroit Tigers fan, through good times and bad. When they made the World Series back in '06, I noticed a lot more fans, which I understand, because that happens with every team. But it upset me that they just now got interested, when I was watching during the days of Bobby Higginson, Damion Easley, and Jeff Weaver and their 119 loss season.

I'm a huge Raiders fan and I've endured so much crap from what seems like almost every sports fan in Southern California. 2003-2009 was such a bad period for them, but I still watched every week just like I do now.
As far as the topic goes, I don't care much for the Steelers. I don't think I "despise" them though. I did smile when Big Ben got punched by Richard Seymour in their game earlier this season. Too bad my team still lost.

Bandwagon fans don't bother me. In fact I welcome them since that means my teams are doing well.
As for the Steelers, ever since their Superbowl win against the Sea Hawks they have kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Doesn't help that they've been one of the Patriots big rivals in the AFC.

This thread ends and begins with Broncos fans being the worst bandwagoners out there. As someone that actually lives in Colorado, I am shocked that I rarely see any jerseys, hats, or anything Broncos on people right now.
If your a fan, you wear your teams' colors regardless of how they are doing. (I still wear my Cowboys jerseys)
As for the Steelers, I like them. They are a great organization and always play good football. They are great foils to the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers as well as the Pats.

The only player I don't hate on the Steelers currently is Troy, because he's one of the few players on the team that plays fairly, and/or, so far hasn't had off field drama.

I also love his head and shoulders shampoo commercials. That too. Plus, the fact that he is clearly the most important player to the team. The Steelers win thanks to their defense, and their defense is only as good as it is because of Troy. Take out Troy, like last year, and they become an 8-8 middle of the road team.

I'm a Steelers fan but the Browns aren't even close to being a team I hate the most. If you're a Browns fan tired of that team losing then we have something common for a just a bit. You see while your football team does terrible I've been dealing with a terrible baseball team for 18 or seasons. As Pittsburgh sports you can be proud in saying The Steelers and The Penguins got back to championship glory. But all is not right in the city of champions...
I've never seen a World Series in my life. I've wanted to see one but it will probably happen when I'm in an old folks home. The hot young nurse will give me my meds, and push me in my futuristic wheel chair to the TV to watch the Pirates finally play in a World Series and probably lose.
I hate that kiss stealing, casino dealing, limo riding hick that owns our team so bad.
If you have good baseball team well be thankful because Pittsburgh fans DO NOT.

WHICH CITY HAS THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE FANS? Green Bay 26% Pittsburgh 14% New York 9% Philadelphia 8% Dallas 7% ... I don't see Patriots fans on the list. Fitting, very fitting.

I'm from Baltimore like a few of the other people here. As you can imagine, people where I live absolutely hate the Steelers as a whole and I've been in an environment where that sort of thing is more than just welcome (It's allowed, too). It's odd, because I have a grudging respect for their management for keeping their team perpetually sharp, hiring decent coaching staff (better than the Ravens, at least ) and all that. But Pittsburgh is a fading team that's largely successful only because of one player on their roster, and that's none other than Troy himself. That dude is a damn beast on the field and he doesn't play dirty, and I respect that a lot. He's also the reason why their relict Secondary is still considered to be good. Otherwise? Can't stand them. Ben Roethlisberger I used to like, but I'm getting annoyed by him solely because he's a big slow guy who miraculously avoids half his sacks since people seem to bounce off of the air around him. I don't care what he did in his private life; he's a professional athlete, not a homemaker. Unless he ends up murdering someone or whatever, I won't care. But that said, guys like Hines Ward and James Harrison are completely unprofessional and don't deserve the privilege to play in the NFL.

Pittsburgh's offense is far-better coached than other teams such as Baltimore (our play calling is laughable, but I digress) yet their scoring is really hardly any better. What good teams have they ripped up? The Bengals? The Titans? The Buccaneers? Those aren't good teams this season. Very few of the teams this season are actually "good." The Saints are. The Patriots are. The Ravens are even with the Steelers. Otherwise, that's really about it. In all honesty, I'm not impressed with them this season at all. Last season? The season before? Yeah, I'd agree. But they're really a lackluster team right now, especially considering how good their leadership is.

But you put a blanket statement out there that only the one player on the D wins games. I'm just saying that over the same amount of time, hell, past 5 years the offense has done just as much to win games. Last year without Troy in the lineup the offense was putting up huge numbers while the D was allowing other teams to run up even higher numbers. This year the offensive line is the issue, I don't think we have a single starter out there with the exception of Pouncey. Might have spelled that wrong, I think it makes me a band wagon fan since I don't know the prior few starting centers like Dawson, Webster and whoever we had last year.. Hartings, Hastings ?

Thing is that the last season or season before are irrelevant to what's happening now. Yes, the Steelers were better a season ago. And two seasons ago. I won't disagree with that, and already mentioned recognizing that. The offense has been lackluster this season, and their secondary sans Polamalu isn't capable of decent pass coverage. But that's the nature of a beast. One season, a team can be amazing, and the next? They can be piss-poor. Not that the Steelers are what I'd call "poor" but they've made a clear downgrade from what they were. But this isn't about whether or not I think they're a decent team. I just don't like them, plain and simple. Being a Baltimore fan, I think that's fair enough, no?

I hate them but I have a lot of teams that I hate. But I'll go into further detail.
Steroids users when they won their first 4 and needed the refs to get them their 5th. I hear about how great and classy the Rooney's are. Its easy to be classy after you won. After you let the steroid users and the deplorable people that some in the media perceive to be bad on your team if it helps you win but does the media call them out on it? (Ironically I don't hate Big Ben and think he got a raw deal on the suspension. He wasn't even charged with anything and its a he said she said and for some reason everyone believe she. Who knows the truth and that's kinda what bothers me. Its not like its clear cut and he got off on a clear technicality)

Steelers of the 70's weren't the only team doing steroids, plus they weren't illegal then. I fail to see how they cheated for their first four Super Bowls. Also, Art Rooney was always classy, even when the team was terrible from 33-69. He was well respected and he along with Al Davis helped complete the NFL-AFL merger. Plus, Dan Rooney is straight class. The Rooney Rule has helped minority coaches get jobs, when before it, they weren't even given interviews. You can hate the Steelers of today, but I fail to see how anyone can say anything bad about the Rooney family.

This is the perfect time for me to explain why I hate the little black and yellow bastards.
Imagine your team winning 10 games and not making the playoffs. Imagine going to college in Morgantown, a little of an hour from Pittsburgh. Imagine watching everybody nut themselves when the Steelers go for the Bowl. Imagine coming home to Parkersburg and watching everybody nut themselves again when the Steelers go for the Bowl again. Imagine watching your team sputter and smoke like *insert Ricky Williams 420 joke here*.
Per the bandwagon issue, I am BEHIND MY TEAM TO THE END.
Snork the Steelers.
