Pretty awesome little stat for Thunder fans: johnschuhmann Russell Westbrook leads league w/ 100 pts scored in "clutch" situations (<= 6 pts, <=5 min). No other player has more than 67 (Kobe). And this is why I now think Russell is a better player than Durant. Russell at least has been playing better than Durant this year, you can't deny that.

He's my favorite player on the Thunder and one of my favorite players in general. The dude is fearless; I really enjoyed his triple overtime game @nj. He was flat out unstoppable! If he can improve his midrange jumper, he could be considered among the best PGs in the league if he isn't already (I'd probably rank him 5th or 6th).

As a casual observer of the Thunder, what's with Durant this year? His percentages are down across the board. In the few OKC games I've watched this year, his shot selection really seems pretty bad. What's the deal?

What's the deal? The armchair thesis is that a combination of little to no time off this summer (between the 6 game playoff series and Team USA training/championships in Turkey) and the added pressure he's under from being the en vogue candidate to not only win MVP but to be the "next LeBron" in the sense of great, classy athlete that turns the fortunes of a team around have left Durant a bit snakebitten. I think he's just a bit fatigued, and that a little massaging of his minutes would help him stay a bit fresher. And even with whatever seems to be wrong with him, he's still tops in the league in scoring, and his team is still playing very well. And he's not carrying them, the Thunder are a team that would find ways to win even if he wasn't playing at an elite level.

Proposed trade between New Jersey, Houston, and the Lakers: bit.ly/fBNpo4bit.ly/gpJf4Ebit.ly/i3iRHfNew Jersey gets: 2011 1st rounder from LA, 2012 1st rounder from Houston, Sasha Vujacic Houston gets: Terrance Williams LA gets: Joe Smith. According to Wojo, the deal has been agreed to in principal, but can't be finalized until Wednesday because Joe Smith was a free agent signing. Also from Jersey's point of view this makes their eventual offer for Carmelo that much more appealing to Denver.

New Jersey used to have three good young swingmen, now they're all gone.

To make room for recently acquired Terrence Williams, the Rockets will trade guard Jermaine Taylor to the Kings for a future second round pick.

I wonder what the Rockets will do with Courtney Lee. I would love to have him back in Orlando.

That was a meh move by New Jersey. The Lakers pick is gonna be low anyways & the Rockets 2012 pick is lottery protected. Would've been better to hold onto Williams.

via Tom Ziller: my favorite part of this is the Suns and Bucks, diametric opposites.

"Hey, it's me, Rashard Lewis! I'm averaging 12.2 points 4.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game this season! My 32 minutes per game have had about as much value as Jon Brockman has had for the Bucks in a little over 9 minutes per game! Yep, Jon Brockman! Did I mention that I'm making over $19 million this year? I'm the second highest paid player in the NBA! I'll make over $21 million next season too! I'm also the biggest reason why Orlando, barring a trade of some kind, is boned!"

It should be an interesting matchup between the Celtics & Knicks. I've got Boston winning by 14.
