I saw this trailer when I last went to the movies and it was the first time i've heard anything about this. From the looks of it, it sounds like they're taking a serious approach with the "alien invasion" movie, which has potential. Either way, definitely one of my favorite trailers of 2010. It has me excited for this movie.

What makes it even more interesting is that it's based on true events. Obviously the whole aliens visiting Earth and attacking us is just for entertainment purposes.
But the overall concept is based on a true story that happened in 1942.

You can find a lot of information regarding that incident in 1942.
All they did was set it in modern times and added some extra entertainment to it. But it's very interesting and a great read whenever you start to think about it.

Reading about the incident that took place in 1942, I wish something like this would happen today. How many people are alive now to even tell the story? We have no evidence other than some pictures and eyewitnesses. No digital cameras, no camcorders...BLAH!

We have no evidence other than some pictures and eyewitnesses. No digital cameras, no camcorders...BLAH! I remember in Texas there were supposed to be sightings of UFO's that were the size of Walmart. But with that said, I think there would be massive panic if that were to ever happen. Although, just wait until Dec 21st, 2012 you'll probably see some reactions that are similar to that article over the fear of the world supposedly ending. But nothing of that magnitude will ever happen since it'll be denied, twisted, debunked, and the public will just believe whatever is sold to them, you know?

Based True Events from the 1940s? Really?
The only thing I can think of is that during WW2 the Japanese sent explosives on a lot of Weather Balloons across the Pacific Ocean in hope that they would land and explode on Cities on the West Coast of the U.S and Canada.
So maybe this film is about a war against alien Balloons.
BTW I read that fact on Cracked.com but can't remember which article it appeared in.
