Yeah but they'll have to take a backseat to Piazza then (since I think Biggio is a first ballot hof'er.) Piazza is 1st ballot the same year Biggio is. Exactly. I was just saying that they wouldn't get the spotlight

And....even if the numbers are not overwhelming, I have always found Dale Murphy to be unbelievably underrated. I hope he somehow goes in.

The Baseball Writers Association is a joke. It's an organization that breaks the rules of objectivity that journalists are supposed to have, both by making the news rather than just reporting it, and a healthy chunk will always flat-out refuse to induct people on the first ballot, or whom they are not familiar with because they didn't cover them.

Alomar and Blyleven are in. Surprised that Bagwell didn't get in as well

About time for Bert. Still wanted either Morris or Parker, ideally.

Congrats to Roberto & Bert. Bags will get in I hope, but it's sad unfounded rumors cost Bags on this ballot.

I'm a little offended that Tino Martinez got more votes than John Olerud.

There's actually a bit going against Bagwell, though granted none of it is concrete evidence.
He's talked recently about not having any problem with guys taking steroids, then saying he didn't want to discuss steroids, since it "takes the joy out of Hall of Fame talk" or something. Should've kept his mouth shut.
Also, there's the accounts of him hiring a bodybuilder trainer and giving him express directions to "make me as big as you can possibly make me", and pairing that with his career statistic trajectory puts a cloud over him.

This is honestly getting BS. If Alamor goes in as a Blue Jay Ill be pissed. Houston still does not have a single player in the HoF as an Astro yet. But the teams that are newer then them do. Yes HoF players played for the astros, some even played the largest portions of their carrers for the Astros... But NOOOooo they are not elected as an Astro.

Im not arguing Joe Morgan who spent more time in Houston then the Reds, but the Ryan Thing is BS. It should have been any of the 3 teams that were not the Rangers: Mets:Won his only WS ring there Angels: Fantastic numbers and most number of best games Astros: Longest tenure But nooo...

sports.espn.go.com/mlb/hof11/news/story?id=5984898I said this in the MLB thread without seeing this one. But BJ SURHOFF REALLY WHY HOW. Barry Stanton needs to explain himself, leaving off the top 3 vote getters and voting for BJ Surhoff. I also need to know who is the other BJ Surhoff vote. Who went to 1 all-star game and finished 18th in the MVP voting 1 year.

Then Nolan would be wearing a California hat because thats where his fame came from. But it was HIS choice to go in as a Ranger. Now, with the HOF deciding on caps, he'd go in as an Astro or an Angel if he were elected today. But it was his choice to go in as a Ranger. Since I'm a Rangers fan, and he's my all-time favorite player, I'm not complaining.

Alomar's most known as a Blue Jay and won two titles with them. In 29 post-season games with Toronto, he hit .373 with 18 RBI, 18 runs, and 18 SB (only caught twice). His best OPS+ in Toronto was 141 (in 1993), and he only topped that once after that (2001 with Cleveland). Everything about his career was better in Toronto, whether it be popularity, championships, post-season success, etc. The only downfall is that he spent only five seasons there (compared to 3 each with San Diego, Baltimore, and Cleveland...with cups of coffee with the Mets, White Sox, and Arizona as well). Regardless, he should go in as a Blue Jay and I believe that is the team he wants to go in with anyway.
