I hope and dream for Don Mattingly to get in one day, but it looks like its not gonna happen anytime soon. At least he got 79 votes. Maybe if he turns the Dodgers around that will get him more consideration.

Can anyone really say Bert Blyleven was a better player than Palmeiro, McGwire, Bagwell, Tim Raines, or Juan Gonzalez? 22 years in the big leagues 287 wins 3701 strikeouts - 5th ALL-TIME IN MLB 242 complete games 3.31 ERA That's Blyleven's stats. I'm not sure how you can compare a hitter and a pitcher and decide who was a better player, but I don't see how you can doubt that Blyleven is a HOFer. Palmeiro is a lying roid user, which is why it'll be a long time for him to get in (if he ever does) McGwire was pretty much juiced up his entire career. He's in the same boat as Palmeiro Bagwell will get in, but it'll probably take a few years Raines is top 5 all time in stolen bases, he's borderline to me Gonzalez is a suspected roid user, may or may not ever get in Theoretically though if all were in their primes would anyone trade Blyleven for any of those guys straight up? It is hard to compare pitchers and position players but pitchers dont play every day. A great position player can help you win every inning of almost every game either hitting or defensively.

But then again, a guy who plays every day only gets 4 ABs a game. Pitching trumps hitting. Proof of that is this past years Play Offs, which was dominated by good pitching. Why do you think everyone started doing steroids in the first place?

Good news for the guys who missed out this year but finished high like Larkin and Morris, the list of new nominees next year is very, very weak. What are you talking about? I see the following names getting in... - Pedro Astacio
- Carl Everett
- Jeff Fassero
- Dustin Hermanson
- Javy Lopez
- Bill Mueller
- Terry Mullholland
...

I'm just tired of the self righteous baseball writers. Explain to me why Alomar is HOF worthy this year but he wasn't HOF worthy last year. And I guess they're going to pretend the whole Steroid Era never happened. The popular explanation re: Alomar is the spitting incident.

That and the writers think hardly anyone is a "1st ballot HOFer". Which is a dumb notion because it doesn't matter if you get in on your 1st time, 2nd time (like Alomar) or 14th time (like Blyleven) you're still a HOFer.

Don't try to make sense of the MLB Hall of Fame voting, remember nobody has ever gotten 100% of the vote. That means that somebody didn't think Cy Young, Walter Johnson, Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Christy Matthewson, Stan Musial, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Sandy Koufax, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Lou Gehrig, Nolan Ryan, Tom Seaver, and Honus Wagner to name some were among baseball's best.

Well, I know that for more recently (such as Ryan) they weren't unanimous because nobody else had been unanimous, and I guess they think nobody should.
