RIP to a truly great actor.
From Brassed Off past Alien 3 to Constant Gardner all his roles were golden, he was even good as Perseus dad in the new Clash of the Titans.

Pete Postlethwaite was a truly gifted character actor. Most people know the name and recognise the face but can be hard pressed to remember what he was in, and I put that down to his skill and craft. He took on a role and, regardless of the size or importance to the plot, made it his own. RIP Pete, and thank you for everything over the years.

To me he was always the type of guy I knew but couldn't place his name.
He was always good in what he was in.

That really sucks. The guy was one of my favorite character actors of all time. I remember hearing a cool story about just how good he was as an actor on a Sharpe DVD extra. The story was that after he played Sergeant Obadiah Hakeswill in the Sharpe series author Bernard Cornwell was so blow away that he started writing the character in his novels to mimic Postletwaite's performance of the character.
RIP

You want to know the worst thing......
The first thing I did was curse the fact that I'm going to have to "Dream Cast" a new Sam Vimes for my version of a perfect "Discworld movie"
The man was perfect in whatever role he had....never overbearing and when I saw him in a cast list I could be sure of at least ONE spectacular performance no mtter what the film.
