Bills signed LB Shawne Merriman to a two-year extension.
Charlie Weis' decision to take a job with the Florida Gators is largely due to the fact that he wants to work with his son, who will matriculate to UF.
Weis' son was set to work in the football office at the University of Texas under Will Muschamp, but when Muschamp recently took the Florida head coaching job, Charlie Jr. then followed him to Gainesville

Okay, me and my radio co-host thought about this and how insane would this be if it did happen.
Buffalo cuts Trent Edwards and does better with Ryan Fitzpatrick.....but yet they are at home watching Trent Edwards back into being a starting QB in the playoffs with the division winning Jacksonville Jaguars.

Why you mad? McDaniels MADE Matt Cassel, so that would be a great replacement in my opinion. No, McDaniels coached Cassell when he had weapons like Moss, Welker, and Faulk at his disposal. Weis was the one that turned Cassell into what he is today.McDaniels and Haley won't mesh well... and that comment is not soley based on their recent post game interaction. Cassel still had to throw the ball to those guys. Now Charlie did help him alot, but the Chiefs have DBo, Charles, McCluster so I can just imagine what McDaniels could do with them. So the team should be find without Weis is what I'm saying and McDaniels is probably the best option to replace him.

Given that Indy's lost to both Dallas and Houston, yeah, you really can't be sure of anything... I wouldn't expect it, but I can't say I'd be stunned.

ESPN is reporting that Charlie Weis will be taking the Florida OC job, and that the announcement will be on Monday.
Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star suggests a couple of possibilities for his replacement: Greg Olson and Nick Sirianni.
Olson is the quarterbacks coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sirianni is the Chiefs offensive assistant coach.
On Twitter, Adam Schefter said that there was a low chance of Josh McDaniels being the next Chiefs OC.

I really don't see that happening for 2 reasons: 1) The Colts have to lose to the Titans at home. The Titans appear to have quit on Fisher, which does not bode well for their efforts to beat the Colts at home now that some players have gotten healthy. I really don't see it happening. 2) The Jags have to win anyways. The Texans still cannot seem to get their stuff together, but they are a team with talent. This is not a good game for Jones-Drew to miss.

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the Broncos have reached an agreement with John Elway to join the team as an executive vice president.
A high-ranking team source tells Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that "Jason Garrett will likely be named the Dallas Cowboys' head coach."
Sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter that Texans head coach Gary Kubiak will return for the 2011 season.

Picks for this week, "God I hope the fates align for my team" Edition:
Atlanta over Carolina Pittsburgh over Cleveland Detroit over Minnesota Kansas City over Oakland New England over Miami New Orleans over Tampa NY Jets over Buffalo Baltimore over Cincinnati San Diego over Denver Chicago over Green Bay Indianapolis over Tennessee Dallas over Philadelphia San Francisco over Arizona NY Giants over Washington Houston over Jacksonville St Louis over Seattle
If Seattle wins over the Rams, the nation has a front row seat to witnessing a travesty of a team with a losing season hosting a playoff game while the Bucs, Giants, and/or Packers sit home. Really hoping the Rams win as pushing .500 sits a lot better with me.

ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reports that coach Andy Reid could bench Michael Vick in favor of Kevin Kolb if Vick struggles during the team's wildcard game.
Vick isn't reportedly recognizing blitzes, something Reid twice let Vick know about during Tuesday's loss to the Vikings. A win clinches the No. 6 seed for the Packers, meaning they would face the Eagles in Philadelphia next Sunday. Vick has spent the past few days studying the Packers 3-4 defense in preparation for the potential matchup.

If the Giants take the No. 6 seed, they face the Eagles, right?
Maybe Washington should just put our team and Coughlin out of our misery. I think I'd almost prefer not making the playoffs then to get in only to completely fold against the Eagles again.

Yes, they'll face the Eagles. Philly's locked into the #3 seed, and whoever clinches the last NFC wildcard will be the #6 seed.

Man, there are injuries and de-activations all over the place today. I haven't got a clue how these games are all gonna pan out. Week 17 is wacky.

Dudes, check out the injury report for the Bills/Jets game. Revis, Cromartie, LT, all out. Fitzpatrick, out.
Could this one possibly top last years?

The Bills are who we thought they were?
I can't wait to watch this game. Gus Johnson's commentary should be epic.
