Mafia.
Not sure of the overall feeling about the game here on the board, but I hated it. I'm a big fan of the two Godfather games, and was hoping Mafia would be similar. I bought it used at Gamestop, and after 45 minutes to an hour I was bored out of my mind and had enough. I brought it back and told the guy straight out that I hated the game. He let me exchange it for something else even though he told me they normally don't do that.
Total disappointment after playing through both Godfathers two or three times.

Oh god yea, Mirror's Edge might not have been the most boring, but man it is up there.

Final Fantasy XIII. Just....god, so boring. They try to tell the story through that stupid in-game encyclopedia thing, in order to save all the screen time for a bunch of pointless walking around and Hope's never ending angst.

Most games like Final Fantasy are boring to me. Pauses in combat generally are boring.

It's interesting to see someone else's opinion on it, since Mafia is one of my all-time favorite games.

Mafia came out four years before The Godfather and seven years before Godfather 2. You shouldn't really compare the two since there is a big difference in technology. Of course, Mafia is one of my favourite sandbox games so I'm kinda biased.

This basically boils down to "Name a Final Fantasy", honestly.
Though a special mention to Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. Up until you get the seed maker and some trees sprouting, it's great, if a little slow after awhile. At that point, you basically just kill three months of game time feeding animals until summer rolls around and you can go back to hauling in huge ass amounts of money with nothing to spend it on.

FF 13 bored me to tears. that'd be the game that Squenix finallly lost me with. they need to seriously look at the people running their game development and maybe shuffle things up a bit, because the guys the have running it have no clue how to make a game interesting anymore. just the same tired cliches over and over again, not to mention their insistance on getting rid of everything that made the games cool in the first place, like exploration. and I know that some people don't like ATB fighting systems, but Squenix always fails when they try to replace it with something else.

You've reminded me of how much I hate the Animal Crossing games. So yeah, I now change my answer to "any Animal Crossing game". SLAVE LABOUR FOR A BUNCH OF ANNOYING, ANTHROPOMORPHIC ANIMALS IS NOT FUN, NINTENDO.

Most modern FPSs. I have researched how all these different franchises are distinguishing themselves from one another, and more often than not, it tends to come down to a case of guns and settings. Which is fine, but I find it difficult to plonk down another 60 quid for a rehash of something I've already gotten through.

The single player in these types of games are like 6-8 hours tops of the same sort of shit in all of them. And then the online is usually full of glitchers/cheap asses/etc. and makes the whole game just about a big ass waste of time.

Agreed, i miss the old school FPS games (doom, duke nukem, dark forces, heck, even the cash-ins like tek war, blake stone, and redneck rampage) where the message was basically "if it moves, shoot it!". But now its all about strategy and online play.

Lately I've been playing Red Dead Redemption, and as a big fan of the GTA series and from the great reviews it got, I assumed it would be something right up my alley. But so far it's just been really boring and a chore to play through.

Begins and ends with Myst. Agreed. A game where you spend 4 hours clicking around till at last you go searching for a walkthrough only to find a game that makes you thinking "That's f***ing it?" is just not worth it JUST.SAY.NO

NFL Head Coach for me. I dunno how the sequel ended up, but the original was like the developers wanted to see how un-fun a football game could be. You do mundane office crap, hire coordinators, etc, do the draft, then more mundane office crap. You play for hours before you finally get to coach a pre-season game. I don't think I ever had the patience to make it to the regular season.

But so far it's just been really boring and a chore to play through. I have an issue with any kind of sandbox game. It's not really that I find them boring, per se, as much as I get kind of paralyzed by the freedom of getting dumped in a world and told "go do everything".
