I like that they're basically advertising it as exactly what it is: A toy for kids. Give me a controller any day.

As cliche (and untrue, depending on your mileage) as this answer is, my thoughts on Kinect are simple:
I already have a Wii, I'm not buying another.

Yeah, i got one for my girlfriends Christmas and so far i've played it for all of 20minutes, so disappointed. The technology has huge potential though, but, i can't see me putting down my controller anytime soon.

I think Kinect is going to be the peripheral version of the XBOX 1, where it was intended to be a failure from the get go, fully expecting a loss, as an in on the market, thus when they get around to perfecting, they Kinect brand'll have enough recognition and rapport for the next one to be successful.

Only game I've read anything positive about is "Dance Central".
A few games are looking to patch in Kinect support, but nothing is coming down the pipeline as MUST BUY YESTERDAY purchases...

First off, the ONLY game they are openly advertising to kids is Kinectimals, you know a kid's game. Every other Kinect ad has focused either on family focused games like Joy Ride or games for adults, like Dance Central and Your Shape: Fitness Evolved.

Microsoft themselves need to really get behind it. Trying to rely on third-party developers to make their "killer-app" for their new software is a big gamble, especially considering everybody and their mother will shout that anything they develop is a Wii knock-off. The concept itself has enormous potential, but Microsoft (or maybe one of their studios that they own) need to make a worthwhile game that will show the fanbase that Kinect is actually a real advancement and not a gimmick that will be ditched in a few months, or at best become the new eyetoy. Even though the Wii did well extremely well with very poor early first-party support, it still had a couple decent Nintendo-developed games, and the Wii's success was unprecedented and might never be duplicated.

I'll wait for some better games to come out before I consider getting one.

I've only got a PS3 but I did play the Kinect for a few minutes and it..........was actually pretty fun better than I expecting but I just know like the Wii and the Playstation Move that I would get bored by it very quickly
They are okay for a group gaming session once in a while (The Kinect & Move I'm referring to here) but I hope they don't try and shoehorn into 'proper' games like for example what they are doing with the Move Killzone 3 on the PS3

It looked like a very interesting product to me. I read up about it, but I wasn't sure about how well it would stack up in comparison to a Wii. It looks like it has potential to be a fun peripheral, but stuff like that, and the PS Move for me personally are just like side distractions for what I like about games.
Sure the concept is neat, and I love how you can apparently turn off the system or tell it to do things just by moving your hands around a certain way, but at the core, I want a system that will provide me with games that I feel I am in total control over by using a controller. It sounds like a fantastic advance in technology (especially for modern gaming) but this will not make me go out and buy an X-Box 360, or a Move for my PS3 for that matter.

I got it for Christmas for my family, they love it. My parents are actually playing a videogame for the first time in many years. They love the bowling on it, apparently.
But I too am hoping for more games from it. Just a matter of time and development cycle. It's going to be tough for companies to not just try to recycle their code from the Wii for it.

It works well, but gets boring really quick. Also, it's not really like a Wii at all, since the Wii is limited to the controller. But it's still just as unfun after about 10 minutes as the Wii is.
