I recently watched this movie after not seeing it for years. I was 12 when in first came out so a lot of the historical humor went over my head. But I just realized how many things in history they made it seem he was responsible for and it made me laugh. Especially his involvement in the Watergate scandal (I'm not political at all but I know what it was) They also made it seem like he was the inspiration for John Lennon's Let it be. The bumper sticker (board rules prohibit me for mentioning what sticker but if you saw the movie, you know the one) had me laughing pretty good. Hanks' dead pan delivery of "it happens" was hilarious to me.
So what are some that made you laugh? I probably missed a few while watching.

Screwing The Shawshank Redemption and/or Pulp Fiction out of Oscars?

One of my favorites wasn't included in the final cut of the movie.
The scene where Forrest saves Martin Luther King Jr. from attack dogs by distracting them with a game of Fetch. I really would have liked to have seen that in the actual movie.

Screwing The Shawshank Redemption and/or Pulp Fiction out of Oscars? Absolutely not. Any one of those 3 could have won it and nobody would have been "screwed". With all due respect, Im so sick of the revisionist history/hate that 'Gump' gets

In terms of how good a film is, Gump doesn't even compare to Shawshank or Pulp. It even falls behind the other two films nominated for Best Film that year (Quiz Show and Four Weddings and a Funeral). It's current rating on RT is way behind the other four. Forrest Gump is a good film but it is not a Best Film of 1994 or any other year.

I prefer to watch Pulp Fiction over Forrest Gump on any given day, but that's because PF is pure fun. It is no way a better made movie than Forrest Gump, though. Not even close. Shawshank vs. Forrest Gump, sure that's debatable. Pulp Fiction vs. Forrest Gump isn't, imo.

The reason being, it seems, was Robert Zemeckis felt there were already enough special effects shots, so he decided to leave this one out. Apparently, a rough cut of the scene is included on the Special Features of the Two-Disc Special Edition.

Wasnt there also a deleted scene where he was playing ping pong with George Bush and accidently hit him in the testicles with a ping pong ball?

It was Imagine, not "Let it Be" Forrest inspired.
If you go to the awful sequel book Forrest is responsible for New Coke as well.

It has been a while since I watched it, but this is what I remember:
- Teaching Elvis that hip shaking move - He was present at George Wallace's speech about desegregation colleges and showed one of the colored girls some gentlemanly behavior in full view of the protesters. - Was an All-American at the University of Alabama, which meant that he met Kennedy (and had to pee). - Got the Purple Heart and the Medal of Honor (where he mooned Johnson). - As a ping-pong champion he inspired Lennon's Imagine on the Dick Cavett Show - Called in the Watergate security, starting up the whole Watergate incident, because the flashlights kept him from sleeping. - His boat survived Hurricane Carmen by being out at sea and not getting tossed ashore. - He was an early investor at Apple Corporation - Inspired the "S*** Happens!" bumper sticker - Inspired "Have a Nice Day!"

EDIT: If you count the sequel, he kidnaps Saddam Hussein. I was pretty young when I read it, like maybe 12 or so. Haven't tried since. I hated the style it was written in and found the certain parts of the story more than a little hard to swallow. For instace {Spoiler}Jenny's ghost constantly visiting him and meeting Tom Hanks was especially cringeworthy I never read the original book.

Check numbers 1 and 5. The non critic audience loves Pulp and Shawshank even more. Yes I know Pulp Fiction and Shawshank are 5 and 1. I can read. I was referring to your comments on the low RT score and being lower then Quiz Show & Four Weddings and a Funeral. To be honest if any of those three movies have won the best picture that year I wouldn't care. I would have the same feeling I would still have right now if Pulp Fiction or Shawshank won. All of those three movies are masterpieces.
