Something to chew on...
Since 2004 the AFC Championship has alternated between three teams in order
2004: Patriots 2005: Steelers 2006: Colts 2007: Patriots 2008: Steelers 2009: Colts
Meanwhile...since 2001 the NFC Champion has been a different team every year.
2001: Rams 2002: Bucs 2003: Panthers 2004: Eagles 2005: Seahawks 2006: Bears 2007: Giants 2008: Cardinals 2009: Saints
Therefore, this year's Super Bowl will almost assuredly be New England vs. Either Atlanta or Green Bay.
Wild Card Games NO d. SEA PHI d. GB IND d. NYJ BAL d. KC
Divisional Games PHI d. CHI ATL d. NO IND d. PIT NE d. BAL
Championship Games ATL d. PHI NE d. IND
Super Bowl NE d. ATL

It's official, our front office has s*** for brains.
The Panthers are going to interview Giants DC Perry Fewell.
Trivia question for all of you, what position did John Fox hold when we hired him to be the new head coach of the Panthers back in 2002?
If you guessed defensive coordinator for the New York Giants, then you'd be correct!
Yes, so we are more or less interviewing THE EXACT SAME PERSON.
Except Fewell is worse.

From the NFL itself and NFLfootballinfo Twitter:
-The NY Giants set a NFL record with 22 fumble recoveries. -Devin Hester set a NFL record with a 17.1 yard punt return average(minimum 30 returns). -Indianapolis made the playoffs for the 9th consecutive season, tying a NFL record(Dallas, 1975-1983), and their 9th straight 10-win season is the 2nd longest in NFL history(San Francisco, 16 from 1983-1998). -Peyton Manning set two new NFL records Sunday with his 208th consecutive start to start a career and 450 completed passes for the season. -Matt Ryan has 33 wins as a starting QB in his 1st 3 seasons, tying Dan Marino for most since the merger in 1970. -Roddy White set a new Falcons record in receptions. -Ed Reed had his 11th career game of at least 2 INTs(Ravens are 11-0). -For the 15th consecutive season, 5 or more teams made the playoffs after missing the playoffs the year before. -Kansas City's AFC West title marked the 8th straight year at least one team pulled a "worst to first" in their division. -Rashard Mendenhall became the 3rd Steelers RB with 1,200 yards and 12 TDs rushing(Franco Harris and Willie Parker). -Troy Polamalu became the 4th Steeler to post 7+ INT in multiple seasons. -New England has scored 30 or more points in 8 straight games, 3rd longest in NFL history(St. Louis 14, 1999 and New England, 9, 2006-2007). -22 QB's passed for at least 3,000 yards this season, a new NFL record(Previous: 19, 2001 & 2009).

Well that's what happen when your Super Bowl is playing and beating the Pats and the rest of the season doesn't matter too much.

I really loathe the Rooney Rule. I know it's based on good intentions, but it always seems to me like it would have the opposite effect. If the Cowboys want to keep Jason Garrett, they shouldn't have to put on a charade of an interview with a minority candidate who has no chance from the jump.

its true, how has that moron managed to stay employed for so long? He is terrible, almost Lovie Smith terrible. Reid is by no means terrible. He is a "good" coach that gets treated by some as a "great" coach. There are FAR worse coaches out there his clock management suggests someone who has not yet learned to tell time. Other than that, he's super.

A team source tells Yahoo Sports that Bengals coach Marvin Lewis will not return to Cincinnati even if he is asked back.
Updating a previous item, Eagles MLB Stewart Bradley (elbow) is not expected to play in the Wild Card round.

Ron Rivera is Puerto Rican. I think we are interviewing both to be just on the safe side.........in case the "minority interview" rule only extended to African Americans.

The teams have to wait longer before naming their coach and actually getting down to business, the coach-to-be is kinda strung along, and the minority candidate is extremely strung along to a demeaning point. It's kinda dumb that the rule is even in effect. Now a days, most GMs will hire a coach they think will win the most games, regardless if they're white, black, blue or green.

Texans owner Bob McNair confirmed Monday that Gary Kubiak will return as the team's head coach in 2011.
Impending free agent LB Keith Bulluck said Monday that he is not willing to settle for a backup or part-time role in 2011.
A league source tells Profootballtalk.com that the 49ers may ultimately not hire Trent Baalke as GM, and instead opt to pair Michael Lombardi with Jim Harbaugh as general manager and head coach.
