www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=5679But I'll make an exception (for the theater release that is.) Edit: By the way, what's with the cover? Yikes! Looks awful.

The awesomeness of Gaston....IN 3D!!!!!!!!!
Off-topic, but I wonder how a movie like Sin City or 300 or even The Spirit would be like in 3D.

The awesomeness of Gaston....IN 3D!!!!!!!!! Oh...yeah that too ;D I can see the Stampede sequence being "edge of the seat" entertainment in 3-D.

Yeah, I'll pass. Not only can I not stand 3D, even for really good movies because of headaches, these are 2D movies that were never meant for 3D. I can't imagine the conversions would be really worthwhile.

This is going to be interesting considering that traditional 2D animation hasn't been converted to 3D before (to my knowledge). On one hand I think Home 3D viewing isn't ready yet, but I also have to consider Disney because they are the best when it comes to incredible tansfers on Blu-ray. I guess I'll stick with the 2D Blu of Lion King for now.

Has The Lion King been released on Blu-Ray though? Nope. This will be the first time. It HAS been shown in HD though (via ABC Family.)

Mostly due to the fact that they usually have little to no shading on the characters to help your brain interpret the 3d. Sure there would be depth between the characters and other characters and the background. But little to no depth on the characters themselves.

If it just ends up looking like a diorama I think it could be really cool. And I bet this will end up like the arguments for traditional animation in HD, people scoff at it and say it wont make a difference, but in the end it ends up being a huge difference. In fact this is the first 3-d stuff I am kind of excited about besides the 3DS.
