Because some people are worrying that CM Punk is going to get more praise on an internet message board than John Cena in the coming months.
Appreciate John Cena here.

Cena's really good at having good matches with almost anybody. His matches for me are fun to watch.

I appreciate John Cena for all the good he does outside of the ring and for giving 100% in the ring. I also think he does a pretty good job of coming off as a badass when he's being serious.
That said, I abhor the way his character is booked, and his attempts at "comedy".

I'm wanting to see an "I appreciate John Cena" graphic in the vein of the Harvey Dent things from Dark Knight.
In this scenario, Barrett is Joker and Punk is Batman.
But yeah, Cena won me over in 2008 - after in 2004 and 2005 I steadily grew less and less fond of him - and while his booking is often questionable he makes the best of it.

Cena's got a nice quality about him... he's this character who's not always the coolest guy in the room, not always the right-est guy in the room, but he usually comes off as at least trying to be up-front and sincere. When it's done right, it makes him a great good guy, because you can connect with him as a genuine person who's talented and works hard to get what he's got.
I think some of the storylines he's given don't play that quality to its best advantage, but I can think of at least one that really did. I think the scenario I like best for him is the one where he gets to show his competitive spirit against an opponent who's not quite a villain, so that it doesn't devolve into a strict black-and-white morality play, but against someone who's just kind of in between... where both competitors hold their own, but Cena's up-front honesty is his unique quality, whereas the other guy is a bit less of an open book, and they clash in those grey areas. He's vulnerable, but not martyred; tough, but not invincible. That's the ideal Cena, and when he's in a story like that, he can be one of my favorite characters in the show.

Cena isn't your cup of tea until one day, you just GET HIM.
He was the man that got me into wrestling back in 2007, and he was always entertaining for me. When I got back into it this August, I didn't like him (for some reason) but again, always entertaining for me. Then one day I just started loving him again like I used too.
And he's such an awesome guy out of the ring.

Cena's time as the sympathetic face during his Nexus run and then his farewell speech after was probably the best he's been in his career.
He has also proven himself to be a great wrestler, even managing to get a watchable match out of Khali once.
Still not a fan of his, though.

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, and that's fine, but I've honestly come to appreciate that he's an actual good guy with no shades of grey in him at all. Maybe I just grew out of the edgy babyface (although when done right I like it), but it's actually refreshing to me. It doesn't hurt that he seems like that person in real life too. Some say it's a kiddy character, I say the character is more mature than they realize. ...Ok, maybe it would help if he didn't wear Jhorts though.

I love John Cena. Screw the haters. I like John Cena. I like his character, his matches, his good deeds, his storylines, his effect of the company, I even like his comedy.
Yeah, I think Cena can be funny sometimes.
I also like how he's crossed over into the main stream. He's on talk shows, he guest stars on highly rated TV shows, and he is a very good representation of the company. A family friendly guy whose humble and All-American. Nobody else has the crossover appeal he has. Miz? Up until his title victory, nobody outside or wrestling new who he was. Punk? Nope. And it's sure as hell not Zach Ryder. I appreciate John Cena, because deep down, I still want to enjoy the product.
I met John Cena at a house show once. He was the nicest guy I've ever met. I wanted some kind of photo or autograph, but there was people in front of me. And get this, some dick wanted Cena to sign his Nexus shirt. Cena just laughed and signed the shirt. When it was my turn I got my autograph and he was nice enough to wait for the picture because my Ice Age camera wouldn't work. He was still a really nice guy. And that's why I love him.

John Cena is the figurative Atlas holding up the WWE Universe and he fills the role admirably.

The worst thing about Cena is his character.
And honestly - that's not his fault. He's not an actor, he's a wrestler. If they booked him properly and let him do what he does well, then he'd be the best babyface on the planet. Because he is likeable, he does work hard, and he can cut a good promo when he's allowed to.

Miz? Up until his title victory, nobody outside or wrestling new who he was. I think you might want to think about that statement for a second. Miz was on TV plenty before he ever started wrestling, so yeah, some people know who he is. Some people know who he is that don't even know he became a wrestler. Also, just a little kind of funny thing. 1. Punk has taken to calling Cena a Monster. 2. The guy who flat out says he loves Cena : "I [heart] Monsters." And there's your proof : Cena is a Monster. More on-topic : I think Cena's a better wrestler than he gets credit for, I just wish they'd commit to trying something new with his character over the long-term, and let him switch off from his Five Moves of Doom from time to time.

I'll give you points for cleverness. That was kinda funny. And I'll take back a portion of what I said about Miz. He might've made a couple of TV appearences, but he hsn't had quite the impact that Cena has. At least not yet anyway.

While that might be true of Cena himself, that no one outside of wrestling knew who he was before his title victory, it certainly isn't true of Miz. Which, of course, means absolutely nothing in regard to either man's merit. It's just a matter of what they did before they started working for the company.

At face value, I can't think of a WWE wrestler who tries harder than John Cena.
Cena doesn't have the god-given talents of other wrestlers, but I've never seen a guy consistantly try as hard as he does.

Cena brings in money, lots and lots of money for the WWE. Despite what I or the IWC may think about who should get pushed, and who shouldn't, just like any business, those that bring the dough deserve the cookies.

I was initially a fan of Cena due to him being a white guy who loves rap and sports jerseys (Which is exactly who I was at the time of his gimmick), but once he started to feud with Carlito, I started to dislike him. I absolutely hated the guy from 2005 to 2008. I marked like a maniac when Edge beat him for the title and when the ECW fans verbally assaulted him. (Looking back on that those fans make me a little sick to be a wrestling fan) Then I started to like him more when he wrestled Batista at SummerSlam, but that didn't last long as my dislike returned when he got to waltz back into the company and beat Jericho for the belt.
But the overwhelming hate for him on the internet and the fact that he comes off as the nicest wrestler ever turned me around on him. He's legitimately a good guy outside of the ring and it's hard to hate someone like that. So now I respect the guy a great deal, but I still don't love the character. The man John Cena > the character John Cena.
But I do find him funny when he makes random references during his rants.
