Think about it... Both are intelligent manipulators Both have an enormous amount of charisma Both see themselves as heroes despite their despicable actions Both see Cena/Superman as a cancer to the world Both lost their hair and are still really pissed about it. Discuss or Photoshop

Yes.
And win.
We seem to have more Superman comparisons now; SuperCena, Mizzaro, and now CM Luthor.

So what does that make Wade Barrett? Gorilla Grodd. Bingo. Only because I'd rather reference Justice League Unlimited than one of the god-awful old Superman sequels.

Bingo. Only because I'd rather reference Justice League Unlimited than one of the god-awful old Superman sequels. Mostly because Grodd is a very smart gorilla who comes up with ingenious plans that fail because he's too smart for them to succeed. If he only simplified them, he'd win. 1) Nexus take over WWE. 2) ? 3) Profit.

I think there's a different allegory to be made. There's a figure who seems himself as the big hero, cleaning up society/the WWE Universe by killing/retiring of those he sees as villains, but his methods are just as morally questionable, no matter how he justifies it to himself. Enter a figure who tells him that he is as bad as those that he is dispatching, and they enter a feud where both see themselves as the voice of justice. CM Punk is L. John Cena is Light. The Cenation is Kira's Kingdom. {Spoiler}And heck, we all know Cena'll win the feud. But hopefully we'll get a decent Near to finish him off.

Cena is the good guy, CM Punk is the villian, CM Punk lose, Cena wins and everyone in the audience is happy, the end.

Let's not forget the ever-present threat of Sheamiac, who nobody seems to be able to put away for very long.

Also, if we are going by Death Note comparations, CM Punk is Light not L.

Punk's the one who'd like to eliminate everyone who doesn't live up to his standards. And the IWC is Misa. They'd do anything to be close to him, no matter how crappy he'd treat them. I'm not sure Punk will ever have an L to oppose him. WWE would never book a face in such a neurotic manner. Also, if we are going by Death Note comparations, CM Punk is Light not L. ...oh. No need for me to have posted, then...

Eh, I'd say that Cena fits Light perfectly. He's the golden boy who has the power to fight those he sees as villains. Where Light has his notebook, Cena has AAs/STFs/Chairs/etc. He took out the Nexus believing he was purging the WWE of evil. There's never the slightest doubt that he's the moral one, in his mind.
CM Punk's speech on Raw was like L's first broadcast with "Lind L Taylor". He points out that Cena/Light isn't moral, he's a bad guy. Does he respond by looking at his own actions? No. Light kills Taylor, and Cena calls Punk out for a match. This is their test, and it closes down the net on them. Cena is cornered (and beaten up) by the Nexus, Light is cornered (and spied on) by the investigators.
As for Cena being the 'good guy', most people in the series see Kira as a hero, cleaning up society. They cheer for him, and TV announcers extol his virtues.

In that picture CM Punk resembles more of Kane from Command and Conquer.

But Cena is the good guy by default, CM Punk is smart but evil, just because he shows Cena flaws doesn't make him a hero, Cena is imperfect but CM Punk has done worse things before, all the things Cena made was other people's fault to begin with; CM Punk is the evil genius who always think it's right and just use his side of the history, Cena being brutal and sadic with Nexus is still a hero who never attack if it's not provoked, he play dirty with dirty players and CM Punk never bring that logic to his speches, CM Punk is the one with flaws, the coward and hypocrite.

Again, the main reason that doesn't fit : Cena doesn't hate the people at large. He doesn't want to get rid of them for being unworthy of living in his world. Punk does. And even so, most smarks (which functions as both Kira's Kingdom, AND as Misa, as the IWC would freak out if Punk was gone for whatever reason) follows him devotedly, as Misa did.
