For the record, I know full and well that Chris Benoit never is going to be acknowledge by the WWE, hence the reason why I referred to him as "the wrestler that shall remain unnamed."
Personally, I would list him but nothing is going to make them change their stance on the situation.

They should have put John Cena and his STF on there just to REALLY piss some people off. They should have put on him the list anyway if Flair is there. Cena's STF is presented as a virtual match-ender, and is much more effective in kayfabe than Flair's figure four ever was.

They should have put John Cena and his STF on there just to REALLY piss some people off. Now that's the real shocker. I thought it was company policy to put Cena's name on everything they do. The list is actually named "Top 10 Submission Specialists After John Cena" but it didn't fit in the title bar.

I'm kinda shocked they didn't put 'Taker on the list.
I mean, I know he might not technically be classed as a submission specialist but he's had I think three submission finishers throughout his career, the Hells Gate, triangle choke and I think it was a Dragon Sleeper?
Especially since the Hells Gate is pretty much instant death whenever 'Taker locks it in.

I'll never understand why some people get confused/upset when the WWE chooses not to include a child killing double murderer on a list like this. Its about time that people accept that when Benoit decided to kill his family that he decided to kill his legacy as well. Now don't get me wrong if you can watch his matches and still enjoy his work thats fine, but you'd have to be insane to expect the WWE to go out of their way to bring the guy up, or praise his accomplishments in the ring. I'm sure that as far as the WWE is concerned the man is regulated to a very dark corner in the past that will be rarely if ever brought up, and then it will only be to mention what a tragic time it was for the company. Nobody here is seriously expecting or wanting a Benoit mention, I think.

Bret Hart as #1 is dandy submission specialist Who are we to doubt him? I understand the lack of Benoit, I always thought of Slaughter as a brawler but I've never really seen his work so I can't comment.

SO awesome that Malenko made the list. He doesn't get nearly enough recognition.
I'm bummed, but not surprised, that Benoit isn't on the list. I knew he wasn't going to be, but it still seems like such a glaring omission.
Oh well, that's a can of worms that probably shouldn't be opened.

I went to the 2007 archives to read up on this forum with Benoit, and looking back at just what happened, and what followed, I cant believe anyone could possibly have any grievance with Benoit not being there. That situation was so surreal and sickening that I hope nothing even closely replicating it ever takes place again. Truly the dark point of post-Attitude wrestling.

Chris Jericho knows 1003 holds. What else does he have to do to make this list? Maybe if he adds an armbar to his repertoire...

More shocking than that is that Kurt is #2.

I'm glad Slaughter made the list, the Cobra Clutch is one of my favorite submission finishers.
I don't miss Benoit on the list, because for me as a fan he's kind of been replaced by Daniel Bryan who is even better in the ring and a much more likeable personality even before the murder/suicide.
I think Bret was a good choice for #1, he probably used a submission finisher the most out of all the WWE champions.

I always wondered why Dean Malenko never seemed to make it as far as Benoit did.

Wow, hard to believe Kurt is at 2. Would have thought with him being in TNA he would be lower or not on at all. A solid 30% of the list is currently employed by TNA! They'll probably have some snarky comment about it next week. Any list worth it's salt should know ex-WWE Alumni Jeff Jarrett is a qualified MMA specialist and master of many if not all submission moves.

Great list. I'd move some names around on it and maybe swap out Flair and Slaughter with Dibiase (Not jr!) and Piper or Foley.
