That is good to hear, I hope he keeps it all together. Sounds like an interesting book, need to check it out.
On a lighter note, what drugs would make Black Reign entertaining? And don't tell me marijuana...

So that's how he came up with Black Reign.

Interesting read....what made Black Reign so bad? Was it that he was so badly booked?

Interesting read....what made Black Reign so bad? Was it that he was so badly booked? To me, a big TNA fan and frequent TNA defender, there was little about the whole run that worked. The character was cheesy, and not in a fun way. The booking of his storylines was horrible. It could have been saved if he had been able to impress in the ring, but he always appeared bored and lazy. To be honest I can't think of anything I liked about that run. Wish he would have just been Dustin Rhodes. I still don't think Black Reign was a Goldust rip off though. Similar attire but different kinds of characters. Had it actually been a Goldust rip off I think it would have entertained me more.

Animal gimmicks haven't worked in wrestling since Jake Roberts. But yeah - Rhodes general laziness in TNA made him uncompelling to watch. When he redebuted on ECW it was like a completely different guy. No big beer gut and a lot more energy. I think Black Reign was supposed to be a darker version of goldust. The out fit was similar in design, the wig - just a different color palate. That and wasn't Rellik supposed to be a figment of his imagination or something? I don't remember 100%

It wasn't based on Goldust, other than the outfit. Dustin himself said it was based on a movie named Dark City.

They should have just made Dustin wear polka dots and claim he was a time traveling Dusty Rhodes.

Was he high during the Black Reign time, the Lone Star (Asylum days), or both?

Until TNA punishes people, I will believe that there are plenty of people in TNA who are on drugs so this news does not suprise me.

Does it make me a bad person if I admit the notion of Dustin Rhodes entering a UFC ring decked out in Goldust attire and getting slaughtered by slaughtering Brock Lesnar sounds kinda awesome? Yes, that does sound awesome.

Goldust on ecstacy sounds like a FABULOUS IDEA. In TNA, they would give him a world title for that.

Until TNA punishes people, I will believe that there are plenty of people in TNA who are on drugs so this news does not suprise me. Everywhere in wrestling, everywhere. How do you think those Ultraviolent wrestler go through a match? Drunk or stoned no other way to get all this crap (I once read here a message from some guy saying he was standing next to Necro Butcher and he basically smelled like a liquor bottle) I also doubt that WWE is that strict with anything. Yes, they may sometimes throw somebody out like Jeff but that's mostly unimportant people. Does anyone really beliebe, WWE would release John Cena when they find out he wrestles stoned? They would try to cover it up just like they did 10-15 years ago. (I have a magazine from 1994 where Scott Hall states that all the wrestlers are clean and don't take drugs, that is something of the past because today (or back then) WWF has so strict tests and regulations)

I also read that someone was back stage(a stage hand)and they were surprised at the amount of cocaine that was openly available at a wwe show

By the way, I watched in a couple of shoots from former WWF/E wrestlers who also mentioned the amount of drugs taken during the times they worked in the company. I still don't think Black Reign was a Goldust rip off though. Similar attire but different kinds of characters. Had it actually been a Goldust rip off I think it would have entertained me more. Okay, thanks.

Glad he got his act together, very underrated when he's at the top of his game. Although, this only adds proof that some wrestlers in TNA have/might have wrestled impaired somewhat (see Jeff Hardy).

Well to be fair that Black Reign gimmick would have driven alot of people to drugs. Solid idea; terrible execution.

In all of professional wrestling, WWE has the strictest of drug testing. You have to test for the stuff and you have to make examples out of people (which has been done).
