Think about this. Hernandez rather work 6-8 shows a week in a country with a drug war going on and in buildings that have jack for facilities than work for TNA. I think that's a pretty damning indication of how bad TNA comes to treating wrestlers. "Go jump off cages, takes bumps on ladders, fight in parking lots and do that tope to the floor, but if you get injured, we'll garnish your wages to cover the bill." Didn't they SEND him there to learn to cut better promos in Spanish?

Why do people bring up FCW wages to justify TNA's low pay? FCW guys aren't on a tv show that makes millions of dollars a year. It's not the same thing. Not to mention, they get paid to just work there on a weekly basis (opposed to TNA's pay per appearance fees). No travel, probably have time for a second job too.

Thing is, he's not a fluent Spanish speaker at all so even if he became decent at it, he still wouldn't be seen as one of La Raza as you can tell who's a natural and who isn't. so the whole point wouldn't have helped him in TNA all that much. And yes, Hernandez chose to stay in Mexico over going back to TNA.

Why do I still read cenamark21's TNA topics expecting anything more than biased allegations based on other allegations supposedly confirmed by rumors based on anonymous insider info from even more biased sources...?
Oh yeah, cos i'm masochistic.
(and seriously, 1000-1500$ for two or three five min tv matches par month + whatever they make on the house show circuits & indy scene = yeah, i'm gonna cry for those poor "average TNA mid-carders". Let's just say that Palumbo was offered 500$ per appearance, but he wanted more, and that broke the deal with TNA.)

Factor in:
1) Gas money. 2) Accommodation. 3) Car rental. 4) Food and drink. 5) Mortgage 6) Hospital bills.
And that really isn't a lot. It's not like we're talking $1,000 to drive a mile into work a day. These guys spend most their lives in hotel rooms out of state, which means hiring a rental car on TOP of the cars they usually use. It means getting a concussion and going to a doctor to get it sorted out. It means paying for hotel rooms on top of their mortgages.
It seems like a lot till you actually do it.

Oh yeah, cos i'm masochistic. My thoughts exactly. Every other day there is a thread about stuff like this. "Some internet dirt sheet guy said the Knockouts are homeless", and since it is negative and associated with TNA, it gets taken as gospel. I'm surprised posters here don't create a lawsuit and take TNA to court themselves.

I'm curious whether TNA offers more help, as far as medical expenses, to someone like Abyss who, at one point, was cutting his body open for the stories and not by accident.

I get that there are expenses associated with the job of a pro-wrestler. Except it's not as if TNA wrestlers are working 30 days a month to earn 1500$. Let's say you're an average midcarder, ie a Robbie E (?). You earn (a scandalous ;D) 500$ per appearance. You can count on, at least, 4 or 5 tv appearances per month, whether on Impact, on PPV, on Reaction, or on Xplosion. Which means you're already earning 2000-2500$, for two or three days in Orlando (and by days, I mean two or three effective hours of work). If you live nearby, gas money/hotel fees are minimal. If you don't, its only two nights away from home. And you still have the 27 other days of the month to do what you want. You want to earn more, pay your mortgage, save up some money for health insurance ? The indies are here, TNA tours are here, a side-job is there. The more you work, the more you get paid. And it's up to you to manage your finances. And once again, we're not talking main eventers or even upper mid-carders. We're talking average mid-carders. You can't expect to make a fortune being an average mid-carder. Seriously, sometimes i don't get the critics : on one hand TNA is minor league, a glorified indy who should cut costs, and stop acting like a big company, but on the other hand, they also should stop acting like a glorified indy, give everybody a raise, and pay their average mid-carders 4000$ for three days work. WTF.

Busing/car pooling is probably a smarter idea. Also tna has catering, so that would cut down on some of the food/drink costs.

TNA has four Impact's and one PPV a month. For the sake of this argument, I will group Impact, Reaction, and Xplosion as one appearance. That would be $2500 a month (before tax obviously) for a worker making $500 an appearance, and that is only for TV appearances. Since TNA tapes 2 weeks worth of shows in two days normally, that is $1000 for two days worth of work in one location. Do house shows factor into the per appearance salary? If so, I count 9 house shows on TNA's website for February (for example). That is not factoring any profit they get on merchandise sales. As someone else mentioned, no one is stopping them from working other jobs as well. Bartenders make good money for a night or two of work, for example. Just because someone works for a wrestling company they are instantly too good to make money doing other things? I'm not sure what factoring in gas, food, mortgage, etc, has anything to do with it since that applies to everyone, whether they work in TNA or Best Buy. The reality is if TNA (or WWE for that matter) were to incorporate health benefits, then a worker's annual salary would decrease due to the increased cost incurred by the company. You can't have your cake and eat it too. This is the world we live in.

You can't have your cake and eat it too. This is the world we live in. These two things especially. Wrestlers have to pay mortgage, transportation and food? So do the rest of us who work for a living. Appearing for 20 minutes 5 or 6 days a month doesn't not grant someone the right to sit around and do nothing the rest of the time with no worries of anything else. And yeah, very few employers actually eat the costs of benefits. They're passed to employees in the form of lower wages. That's just about every business in existence.

It's sad. I read some of the arguments that justify TNA's actions, and I do kinda see the point. However, due to this, TNA is nothing more then an indy and will likely never reach the point where they're anything better.
I think one reason people are so up in arms about this a lot of the time is the pay discrepancy between the top of the card and the bottom. There's always an understandable different, but some guys are making major money thanks to Spike Tv and Panda energy, and the rest aren't making good money.
As for the Knockouts pay, those issues started by the way when Gail Kim left, and Awesome Kong bitched about pay and confirmed it in interviews. I'm not someone who likes going to dirt sheet writers as well, but there's a lot of smoke around, so there's probably some fire too.

I read somewhere, and this could very well be wrong, but some have used the bus. They also wrestle other independents too when they can, as the indies certainly aren't booming. As for busing and car pooling, some guys might live in different areas, so they might not have the opportunity to do that. I'm sure the TNA wrestlers know how to cheap out with what they get paid. I enjoy the respect people have for the wrestlers too, but whatever. Anyway, what they should do is band together and say, f*** you, we want more money. Because I don't think TNA can replace everybody on television. But they're too afraid to make a stand, and it's sad.

Yes: that means there's a very good chance Christy Hemme makes more than AJ Styles. And she should. She has a lot nicer ass than he does. I'm not really a fan of man-ass .....

Cenamark was the one who said in the Helms thread a few weeks back that "you can't trust wrestlers" when the question was put forth 'how can we trust a dirtsheet over a wrestler?'...yet here she is quoting a tweet from Chuck Palumbo. Anything to bash TNA I guess, but i'm a wrestler so you can't trust what I say...except when i'm talking about TNA...then you can trust me.

Allow me to interject once again that we(all of us) will likely never know what TNA workers are paid and how they are cared for. The internet is rife with runor and speculation and too often it is taken as absolute fact because we(the internet fans) have no other way of knowing. I will not judge them for their pay scales because I don't know them. Allow me an analogy to compare pay for pay if you will:
If you join the army you are the lowest pay grade at first lets just say you make $1900 after taxes, FICA, SSN ect. You are in harms way and doing the plowshare of the bad duty whilst an E-9 or an officer makes sometimes three times what you do and is not in harms way. Why is that so? Well the E9 already did what you are doing, progressed and learned and now has a spot that is more important to the overall aims of the unit.
TNA midcarders and knockouts are doing a helluva a job in ring and put their bodies on the line everytime they are out there. they are learning their craft and entertaining fans but the big stars are still the draw and earned their larger paychecks.

I'm gonna start posting this in every thread that sees people fussing over negative press and/or comments about TNA.
They're a public entity. They're not perfect. They get criticized. Deal with it.
