Doesn't Rob Van Dam have a legit martial arts background? That's gotta count for something. Same with Al Snow and C.M. Punk, or at least so I've heard.

On the other hand he's also pulled three kids from a housefire despite getting horribly burned for his troubles. Tough doesn't have to mean being good in a fight.

Isn't santino the most tough wrestler in the wwe now? I'd say his tag partner is. Out of the current crop in the big promotions, I think Kozlov would win a shoot fight tourney.

The Road Warriors started out as bouncers in a biker bar in Minneapolis. Kurt Angle would have to be considered, since he won the Olympics with a BROKEN FREAKING NECK!!

Is it true that Brian Pillman (RIP) beat down Sid Vicious?
By the way, I heard that Paul Ordorff (sp?) and 2 Cold Scorpio were tough, too. Is that also true?
I was watching an old school match featuring the late Jackie Sato and three other girls. During the last 4 seconds, one of the girls was beating an announcer down. Not to sound crass, but I thought it was funny. I also heard that the joshi wrestlers are quite tough themselves.

Orndorff once beat down Vader with a broken arm, so I'd say he was.

Orndorff once beat down Vader with a broken arm, so I'd say he was. Whilest wearing a bathrobe and sandals no less. Meng and the Barbarian began studying Sumo when they were only 10 years old. They were among a group of children selected from all over Tonga and Meng reached the thrid highest rank before his trainer died. Now, imagine how badass that would make you.

You can't not say Mick Foley, really. Probably would have to include lunatics like Necro Butcher and Jun Kasai if we're talking about sheer ability to withstand pain.

Rico. Seriously, that guy did it all. Rico was a police officer in Las Vegas before his WWE career. I think he might warrent some consideration.

Vader gets credit for having his eye taken out and finishing the match
Hogan, Hiro Matsuta in an attempt to test Hogan to see if he was worth training. Broke Hogan's leg. Hogan finishes whatever they were doing, goes to the hospital and stops traing for the moment. 6 Weeks pass, Hogan gets the cast taken off and returns to traing with Matsuta and the Briscoe's. They finish training Hogan and the rest is history.

Dick the Bruiser heard Detroit Lions player Alex Karras (yes, the former voice of Monday Night Football & the dad from "Webster") was interested in wrestling while he was suspended for a year from the NFL in a gambling scandal that also busted Paul Hornung. Bruiser went into Karras' own bar and the two got into such a fight it injured a few cops and fans trying to break it up. (Dick & Alex were once rivals on the football field, as Dick was a part-time player for the Packers in the early-50s. Add to it the bar fight, promoters in Detroit played this up and signed a match between the two, pushing it as a "shoot", but fans didn't really care and it drew poorly.) Bobby Heenan talked about on one of the DVDs he did with Cornette. He said they were setting up the match, and were going to do the bar fight as the angle to build up to it. Alex Karras wanted to do the match, but he didn't want to do the angle. So Bruiser goes to the bar, they've got their "cops" there to break up the fight...and Alex doesn't show. So Bruiser gets mad, in part because he would have had the day off if not for this. When he came in, the bartender said, "Whatever you guys do, don't touch the TV." So when Alex doesn't show, Bruiser starts tearing the place up and smashes the TV. So the bartender calls the real cops, Bruiser gets into it with them and breaks one's arm. In the end they had the match and it didn't draw. I think that's how he said it went, anyway. It's been a while since I watched that DVD. I had no idea this was mentioned on a DVD. Bruiser was also one of the guys that would just tear fans up if they tried getting involved in matches. Just more proof to the reasoning you don't want to mess with Dick the Bruiser. Thank you for the heads up!

Kurt Angle. The man only was a NCAA champion and an Olympic gold medalist.
