Saint Louis was once a mecca of professional wrestling but following the fall of the NWA the town fell on hard times, largely ignored by Vince and suffering from a lack of homegrown talent the city had been in a wrestling depression.
Flash forward to the late 90s/early 00's. Gateway Championship Wrestling was reigniting the scene with talent the likes of Dingo, Daizee Haze, Delirious, Mschif, Matt Sydal and others. Following a short boom of popularity things again went south after the departure of many of the areas top stars.
In 2004 a new company formed featuring a bunch of unknown workers being trained by people who had split from GCW. The Lethal Wrestling Alliance. After a brief war with GCW, the LWA emerged victorious and was crowned the new king of Saint Louis wrestling.
In 2010 the LWA is still the main game in town but had fallen on hard times, attendance was down and many stars had retired or moved on. It was time for a drastic change and that change takes place this year.
The LWA has merged with Texas based company Anarchy Championship Wrestling and is presenting a brand new wrestling Product for the greater Saint Louis Area.
The debut show is in O'Fallon Illinois, about 20 mins outside downtown Saint Louis and is Jan 8th.
The card so far features
The well traveled Evan Gelistico taking on Dan Walsh for the World Title
Davey Vega versus Davey Richards
Kyle O'Reilly taking on Arick Cannon
Dingo versus Matt Fitchett
Also signed for the event
Shimmer Womans Star: Rachel Summerlyn
Darin Corbin, ACH, Shane Hollister, Shorty Biggs, Jordan Lacey, Tony Kozina, The Hooligans, Gerald James, Billy McNeil, JT Lamotta, Robert Evans, Darin Childs and more.
Also I know this sounds like a shill, but I dont work for the company and I fully intend to stick around and post about other things!
Are there any members of the board close to my area?
