Nirvana will be eligible for the hof in a few years. Assuming Dave and Krist decide to play the show who would they choose to play guitar and sing lead vocals?

lol, I've seen this question so many times on different forums. Its a good question and one I look forward to finding the answer to when it actually happens.
However, my favorite "bad" or "troll" answer ever is something like "Duh, it will just be Dave and Krist, they'll play Marigold. They don't need Kurt for that."
Sure, one of the biggest bands of the 1990s reunites for a one-off and they are going to play some b-side 99 percent of the people have never heard of.
My serious, would probably be Eddie Vedder and maybe Neil Young or Chris Cornell. I know Kurt didn't like Eddie, but I don't think that would stop it.

Depending on what they play (I just know it won't be Teen Spirit), I'd say put Dave on vocals and guitar and let Pat Smear rock the drums. No need to get a gimmicky replacement
EDIT: I f***ed up, Smear is a guitarist. I was thinking Chad Channing

Surely there have been other bands inducted with deceased members, I wonder what they did?

I've never watched a RRHoF performance in my life, but I would more then likely watch this one

I thought Pat Smear was a guitarist? Does he play drums as well.
Anyway here are some other possible options I've thought of: Buzz Osborne (Melvins), Scott McCaughey (Young Fresh Fellows), Mark Arm (Mudhoney) Mike Watt (Minutemen/FireHOSE),Paul Westerburg (Replacements), Black Frances (Pixes), Bob Mould, Grant Hart (Husker Du)

I'd never watched one before this year, and I watched it solely to see Tom Waits. Luckily he's still alive and well, so he went out there in all of his raspy goodness.
I'm really curious about this now, though. Like when Bob Marley got inducted, did they just have Ziggy Marley play or something?
[edit - You know what Kurt probably would have appreciated if he could have seen it, though... if, instead of Nirvana playing with someone in his place, if they had Shonen Knife doing Nirvana covers. He loved him some Shonen Knife.]

When the Ramones were inducted, Green Day played some of their songs. When asked about it, Johnny Ramone said, "We don't have a singer and I'm retired."

According to the ever reliable Wikipedia though he doesn't (thought he does play piano).

I imagine they'd have a band cover a couple songs, or just do like a Foo Fighters/ Nirvana mash up w/ Dave on Guitar/Vocals, Krist on Bass, and Taylor Hawkins on drums.

Personally I guess that while Neil Young and Eddie Veder are the most obvious choices I think it would be cooler to see someone from one of the post-punk Seattle bands that didn't make it big (Melvins, etc) or one of the melodic post-punk bands that influenced Cobain musically (Mats, etc)

Either they will get other bands to play songs that inspired Kurt and Nirvana's music, such as The Melvins, Sonic Youth, etc. Or they won't play at all. I doubt Dave and Kris will play any Nirvana songs without Kurt in such a manner. I think they have too much respect (and/or grief) for Kurt to do such a thing.
A last resort would have Dave sing and get Chad Channing to play drums, but I doubt that.

I kind of imagine that Dave would sing, and the guy from Foo Fighters would play drums

Would the spirit of Kurt let them in,and this is an honest question, would he want them in the RRHoF?

Would the 27 year old Kurt want them in the hof.No. But then would the 27 years old Dave and Krist want to be in it? Probably not. But maybe the forty something Dave and Krist feel differently. Maybe the forty something Kurt would feel differently as well. We'll never get a chance to know. But I don't think that should stop Dave and Krist if they want to do it.

Courtney Love can do vocals.
Kurdt was uncomfortable with his mainstream success, so would he really want the band to be in a hall of fame?
Cobain was dead by the time this happened, but look at how Eddie Vedder reacted upon winning a Grammy:
