There's one other thing that hasn't been mentioned yet - if anyone WERE to break the streak, they would be seen by smart fans as being in business for themselves, a backstage politician, the new HHH, etc. I think that's how it would go down.
Put it this way - if I were a wrestler on the way up, and the streak was offered to me, I'd say no because I'd fear the backlash. I'd rather have an epic match and lose than break the streak.

better to let him retire undefeated. They could do something where a guy tries to beat the streak wrestling multiple matches at Wrestlemania, or maybe a guy gets a small streak going and Taker comes back for a one shot(no wrestling retirement is forever) streak v streak.

The Streak is practically his entire legacy. You break that and all you have is some guy with spooky special effects who has been in the WWE for over 20 years.
He retires undefeated, and he'll forever be remembered as the one guy who has never lost at Wrestlemania.

Why end the streak? It makes money, and it's an automatic draw.

This isn't the 80s. Not every veteran has to put over new talent on their way out the door. There are plenty of ways to get new talent over without sacrificing something they've built up for 20 years.
Ending the streak is the equivalent of leaving money on the table. The streak is a wrestlemania draw, and the inevitable 20-0 DVD will be a huge seller for the WWE. Ending the streak means either
A) giving the rub to someone who doesn't need it,
B) giving the rub to someone who's not ready for it, or
C) giving the rub and risking the guy getting Wellnessed, injured, or pulling a Lesnar.
The Undertaker took what should have been a throwaway gimmick and turned it into one of the most larger-than-life characters that the WWE has ever seen. He is likely in the top 5 in terms of all-time popularity and merchandise sales. He has put on some of the greatest matches in company history and is one of Wrestlemania's biggest draws. Allowing him to retire with the streak intact is a great way to say thank you for 20 years of amazing work, and making money off it at the same time.
There is absolutely no valid reason to end the streak. Period.

Plus, why does beating the Undertaker = being put over?
A win does not equal putting someone over. It's how the match plays out and what happens during.
Example:
Kofi Kingston could wrestle Taker at Mania and put on a 30 minute, 5 star classic and thats all he would need. He would not have to win the match. Kofi would just have to take him to the limit. Thats what it's about. Showing that you are just as tough as the Undertaker on the biggest stage. Taker can easily put someone over without losing. Remember that Jeff Hardy ladder match?
Or Kofi could have a 2 star match that goes 10 minutes where he pins Taker.
Which would you prefer?

Anyone who could believably do it doesn't need the rub. Exactly. What would Cena, Orton, HHH, etc gain from it? NOTHING.

Wouldn't it make sense to put someone over? This. The only purpose for the streak at this point is to let someone end it to get the massive heat that would produce from marks and smarks alike.

I hope so. I'm not even a Taker mark, I just don't want it to end. There's no reason to. Making someone end it as a push is incredibly risky. What if they make a Lesnar end it? Or even worse, someone they couldn't mention at all for some reason. How would they ever include the streak in videos and such?
"The Undertaker's streak was finally beaten by...*coughcough*..."
And pushes mean nothing unless they're long term. You can't ride on just "I beat the streak!" forever. And there are a million other ways to push someone. Sheamus became a main eventer when Cena accidentally slipped off the second rope and went through a table. Making them beat the streak adds a huge level of risk because that person is automatically added to WWE history, even moreso than just having won the belt.
And the Undertaker, despite being around for so long and being incredibly lotal, was never the top guy. Let him have this as part of his legacy.

Plus, why does beating the Undertaker = being put over? Heh. Substitute in Triple H's name for Taker's, or plug in John Cena's name instead, and the point might be clearer.
