First he announces a Hip Pointer injury and now he totes the company line, "taking it day to day" or however WWE.Com worded it?
Seems, suspicious... and I'm not clear as to exactly why.
Anybody else wanna weigh in?

JR isn‘t real. He is just Bruce Prichard in a mask.

I think he just got caught in his own BS of "reporting" his own speculation or repeating something that he had heard from someone else which turned out to be untrue. Even Good Ol' JR makes mistakes.

JR got the report from backstage trainers that it was a hip pointer. But when Cena went to the doctor, it was diagnosed as a hip injury. It's a common mistake to make in sports. Concussions are regularly misdiagnosed. Most injuries need trained doctors and x-rays/mri to get the correct answers.
No it's not some evil plot by WWE to lie to the masses. If they were going to do that, they wouldn't had reported it on their site and linked the youtube video. Not everything is a work.

JR does tweets and blogs as damage control. For some reason, people trust him at his word.

JR does tweets and blogs as damage control. For some reason, people trust him at his word. Because he's the wrestling version of Walter Cronkite. It may be company spin sometimes but a little more trustworthy than the usual suspects' wrestling websites. Remember the reports of the career threatening injury of CM Punk that turned out to be a injured asscheek?

He's hardly Walter Cronkite. He's closer to David Frost.
JR is the character that Jim Ross plays. He does company spin A LOT more than people realize. He's just very good at it, and people trust him, which I won't fault him for. He's good at wording things in a way that sound like they're not from WWE directly.
He's WWE's Press Secretary.

I think its either one of two things. JR just heard doctors initially call it a hip pointer, or the WWE doesnt want people to think Cena has a dangerous injury and feel they cant go without him on TV.

He is a loyal company man. Ross admits to that. Of course he's going to spin. No one tells the truth all the time. And the job of the press secretary is to control the flow of news coming out. If Ross didn't mention it, Joey Styles would had done it.

Jim Ross is as much of a worker as anybody else in that company, and so is Mr. "Rebellious", Joey Styles.

It's also possible, depending on the severity of the injury, that they want to give off the impression that Cena is still ready to wrestle. Then have Punk be the one to take him out to the point where he has to take time off, that way they can keep heat on the feud for when he is able to return.

Then have Punk be the one to take him out to the point where he has to take time off, that way they can keep heat on the feud for when he is able to return. This is absolutely possible, since they never mentioned that the house show match was against Wade Barrett who is supposed to be "gone".

Having worked in a hospital, I know it that it can take some time to get a proper diagnosis of an injury and sometimes the initial diagnosis isn't always the correct one. I was kind of surprised they had reported what Cena's injury was as early as they did. I think they felt pressured because it got so much attention and a lot of people wanted to know what was going on.

He does company spin A LOT more than people realize. Oh my, yes. I recall last January, he made a comment on his blog about how Edge's recovery was progressing slowly and he just might, maybe, be able to make it back barely in time for Wrestlemania. I took that as confirmation that Edge was winning the Rumble, which he did. And several months before that, just when the latest DX renunion was kicking off, JR noted that Shawn was in great spirits and wasn't even considering the possibility of retiring. We all know how that played out...

As much as I love JR, sometimes he speaks without engaging his brain. Like the Rey/Heath Ledger comment at WM. And calling the Whisper In The Wind a Twist Of Fate week after week when Jeff Hardy was last on RAW.
