That being said, I got the friends that do the EV training and know which "natures" provide the better stat boosts and have several pokemon in their boxes with the Pokerus and will catch/breed the same thing over and over just to get the right base stats and all that junk. That's where I draw the line for me. And for all of that I can kick 'em around pretty good every now and then. It doesn't seem to help them so much that they can just wipe the floor with me all the time. You just described my involvement with these games perfectly. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent just breeding Pokemon just to get the ideal nature+IV combo. It's REALLY rough with upper-tier Pokemon like Tyrannitar, any dragon, and PKMN like that, as their eggs take an eon to hatch, even with a PKMN with Flame Body/Magma Armor. I also have about 3-4 boxes of PKMN with the Pokerus just to make sure I never lose it. I've had it since I got Emerald several years back. That, plus the Power items & vitamins, make EV training a breeze. Battle strategies aren't perfect. You can have what's considered a "perfect" strategy and you can still lose a fair amount of time, especially if you play people that know what their doing. You have to consider human error, what moves the opponent has, and game mechanics like critical hits, which can't be predicted (unless you have a Honchkrow with the Super Luck ability + Scope Lense + Night Slash - They'll happen like clockwork with all that).

True. I don't wanna talk trash on anyone that does, if you do that's fine. I just can't get into it on that level. Though I do love the games for the fact you just said. You can fine tune it to the level that I do it, without getting so particular, and hold your own. It's a game where the people that tinker their team to the finest detail can't ALWAYS beat the living shit out of everyone who doesn't play that deep.

Another thing: it's normal for this pokemon to get really slow stats in every level raise?

I only deal with natures and EVs.
IVs are too much of a hassle, and I just don't care enough about them.

Another thing: it's normal for this pokemon to get really slow stats in every level raise? It's only at its 2nd stage. It evolves into Elektross with a Thunderstone. That's when it's, as JBL would say, "Ballgame, Maggle!" Base stats: Elektrik/Elektross HP - 65/85 Attack - 85/115 Defense - 70/80 Sp. Attack - 75/105 Sp. Defense - 70/80 Speed - 40/50 Still slow as hell, but it has no weaknesses thanks to Levitate. I only deal with natures and EVs. IVs are too much of a hassle, and I just don't care enough about them. I didn't care much about IVs either until I got a Dragonite with over 400 Attack. Oh my.

I'd be willing to try to breed for good IVs if there was an easier way to find out what they are.

despite hating on this game since it's release, a week or so back I tried it again starting from the beginning.
f*** Tepig, I chose Oshawatt this time and he is sooooo much more awesome than that lame fire pig.
Ive actually really started to enjoy the game, and whilst (as mentioned on the previous page) I dont understand half the stuff thats being discussed here, and thus probablynot getting anywhere near the full potential of this game. I'm still really enjoying it.
Ive recently beat the elite four and I dont know if I just got really lucky with the pokemon I chose to raise or not, every gym leader/elite four/ N etc I found to be the easiest battles of any pokemon game I've played.
My 6 are Samurott (wanted to keep him as Dewott and Change his name to Bill!) Beartic (polar bears are my favourite animals) Scolipede, Zeckrom, Krookodile and Reuniclus.
these are the pokemon that I think appear the most badass, and they cover most of the types (which is about as deep as I go with Pokemon tactics) so its all good x

I never thought Krookodile was great until I got one myself, it's pretty solid. What did you have instead of Zeckrom for the Elite 4, or did you snag that through the GTS or something like that?

Just beat Burgh, who was a breeze, and a few trainers on Route 4, here's my current party: (Male) Level: 23 Nature: Jolly Ability: Intimidate Item: Smoke Ball - Bite - Mud-Slap - Assurance - Sand Tomb Nickname: Koro (Female) Level: 24 Nature: Modest Ability: Forewarn Item: Quick Claw - Psybeam - Imprison - Moonlight - Yawn (Male) Level: 25 Nature: Lonely Ability: Torrent Item: Mystic Water - Razor Shell - Fury Cutter - Water Pulse - Focus Energy (Male) Level: 23 Nature: Naughty Ability: Keen Eye Item: Scope Lens - Hypnosis - Super Fang - Crunch - Cut (Male) Level: 25 Nature: Docile Ability Hustle Item: Eviolite - Fire Punch - Facade - Fire Fang - Headbutt Nickname: Oni(Male) Level: 24 Nature: Quirky Ability: Inner Focus Item: Amulet Coin - Revenge - Bide - Rock Smash - Vital Throw So far I'm enjoying my party, they're pretty solid. Darumaka is a BEAST, despite it's tendency to miss it's attacks due to it's ability. Watchog is actually pretty useful, and it's Cut packs quite the punch, but he's really just filler until I find the next Pokemon I want, mainly Yamask, who's practically right there (I saved right before the Desert Resort). The same applies to Munna; useful, but not permanent. I don't want my Dewott to evolve, so I'm gonna have to find an Everstone. On the other hand, I can't wait until Sandile fully evolves into Krookodile. Throh is a GREAT Fighting type, but I don't know if I should replace it for something better, if there even is something better.

I finally got someone to trade me the Gold/Silver starters and an Elekid. All I have left to go are the trade evolutions, that snowflake bastard from B/W that's like 1% catchable during any season but Winter and a lot of legendaries. Pokedex is at 613. I might actually start EV training for the first time to get some trade bait for legendaries.

It was my brother's 8th Birthday today...and he's been wanting my Darkrai for a while now. HELL NO, HE'S NOT GETTING MY DARKRAI!
So I went on a 12 hour hunt, and in the biggest Gambit of all time, raised a Snivy and evolved it into a Servine to trade for a Level 80+ Garchomp on the GTS, then immediately traded that for a Level 100 Sneasel, then traded that for a level 100 Shedinja so that I could hit up an untapped Darkrai market and snag myself a Canadian Darkrai.
He's going to be so happy when he wakes up tomorrow. I need to charge my DS.
