Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald tracked down Brett Favre in Hattiesburg (MS) on Friday, and Favre confirmed to Darlington that he's not coming back to the NFL.
Darlington met with Favre, and he's looking like an old man. "Brett Favre walks slowly and gingerly," described Darlington, "every step taking considerable effort."

And just like that, it's right back to having no interior defensive line....
Panthers NT Ron Edwards is likely to miss the 2011 season after tearing his triceps in training camp.
It's a big blow to the Panthers. Edwards, signed to a three-year, $8.25 million contract last week, was supposed to add girth and run-stopping ability to a soft Carolina interior line. The Panthers will likely pursue an alternative, but the free agent market has been stripped thin. If they stay in-house, third-round rookie Sione Fua is the next best nose tackle option.

"Bears Family Night" cancelled due to poor condition of the Soldier Field turf, probably due to recent concerts/events. The Bears drove back down to their camp in Bourbonnais to have practice there instead.
Fans that did show up (despite massive traffic tie-ups due to Lollapalooza) were given refunds on parking, tickets and free food and non-alcoholic drinks, plus a fireworks show afterward. The fans that did stick around cried to every news crew there about what a bad decision this was. One guy complained that by the time he made it to the front of - not one but - two concession stands, there was no food to be had. (Yet they stuck around. People, you made your bed, got your money back. Sleep in it.)
This would never happen if Roger Bossard was in charge. As soon as that last piece of stage was loaded on a truck, Roger would have had his crew out THAT VERY MOMENT working on the grass. You're telling me once the lockout was over they didn't even have a 75 year-old retiree checking the field once in awhile?
Edit: Damn, beaten to it. But still a story worth sharing.

Cortland Finnegan has reportedly "walked out" of Titans' training camp due to a contract dispute.
Finnegan is set to make $3.3 million in the final year of a four-year contract this season. The face of the Titans defense, he has some leverage if he's angling for a new long-term deal. What was already going to be a challenging Titans season could get downright ugly if both Finnegan and Chris Johnson miss a large majority of camp.
Finnegan? Naaaaaw...

I'm guessing that the Steelers will be on the road facing the Gotham 11, when a villain will cause shenanigans to ensue. Possibly via a Zeppelin.

For people laughing at the notion of this...most need to remember that the year before we were 12-4 with a lot of injuries last year and a lame duck coach who didn't give a shit how the team did... And about Edwards being hurt, Kemoatu seems like he wants to return...and if we can get him at the right price, I'd be all for it...

I have no issue buying in to the Panther team. I have massive issue buying in to Cam Newton or Jimmy Clausen.

I mean if Cam can just have a decent season I think we can reasonably be a 7-9 team based on our running game and defense...

As a Vikings fan, I spent the last couple years hearing about how good Tavaris looked in camp and that he was going to be a legit starter. Then he steps on the field and looks like a deer in headlights. Basic story: most every QB looks great in camp and that gives the local press a hard-on.

I never go by the press....I'm talking about other fans that have been going to camp...they've been honest about Cam...looks pretty good for a rookie but has thrown his fair share of short passes and the like... That's why I think he'll be decent this year...not gonna be an elite QB his first year which for some reasons everyone acts like all rookie QBs are supposed to be now...but decent... I heard his running game is still showing to be great too...

Anyone else watching the HOF ceremony? Sharpe's speech almost made me cry, but Faulk's was wayyyyy long.
Deion will close out the night.
