Oh boy... I thought I was in for a huge reaming when my younger brother (the middle one of three who posts here occasionally) discovered the Desktop Ponies program on my computer... but as it turned out... actually here's how the conversation went...
Him: "Desktop Ponies? What's that?"
Me: "I don't know... some thing."
Him: "I LOVE PONIES!"
Me: "Please don't tell... wait, what?"
He doesn't seem to be aware of the show other than it's meme popularity (his favourite site is knowyourmeme.com apparently), but at least I think I have an ally if things go awry eventually.
I'm not going to try and tempt fate by converting him to full bronyness yet, though.

Well, at least you have an ally.  My mother knows I like the show and fandom. Still haven't told my dad yet (although I don't think he'll mind either). And my friend is a brony. I think I'll just leave it at that. If I come across someone else who likes the show, great! If not, well, I got you guys. ;D |

The only ones so far that know about this are two female fellow students and my older brother.
The two don't seem to mind and my older brother at first thought me weird (because he thought it was the G1 series I was interested in) but after I said it is a new series made by the person who did PPG (which he loved for a time) he understood and doesn't break a sweat.
I haven't told my parents...and I frankly don't see why I should. It is not like every time I took something up as a hobby, I came up to them and said "I like wrestling", "I like manga", "I like anime" etc.. If they see me watching something pony-related, I explain it to them and that's it. They know that some of my hobbies are not exactly mainstream and I got no problems with them ever (even though they don't understand why I like wrestling).
