Overall opinon, WCW was looked at as the inferior promotion, but during its lifetime, what did WCW do that topped WWF's version of it. Here's my list....
Rick Rude's Theme Song - WCW hasn't really put much emphasis on its themes, but his "Simply Ravishing" theme beats the hell out of his WWF theme, which is generic in comparison.
WCW's Cruiserweight Division - Since it was more of a wrestling base promotion than the "spectacle" that was WWF, it was alot easier for them to pull it off. WWF did their half-ass attempt at creating a light-heavyweight division, but even as a bias 10 year old WWF mark, I spotted their valnurablity and knew they were trying to copy them.
Anything else you can think of?

Without a doubt, WCW did a far better job promoting luchadores than the WWF / WWE ever did. When it comes to how WCW promoted non-luchadore cruiserweights, the record is mixed: Dean Malenko got a better push in WCW than in WWE, but the opposite is true of guys like Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero.
During the wrestling boom of the late 1990s, WCW had more psychologically compelling characters than the WWF. WCW had Sting stalking Hogan as 'the Crow.' WCW also imported Raven from ECW, and although he was never used to his potential, they still stood behind him enough that he was able to deliver compelling promos and had a memorable stable (Raven's Flock). The WWF had good characters like Stone Cold and The Rock, but they weren't psychologically deep like Sting or Raven.
WCW's hardcore division was also a lot better than the WWF's. In terms of hardcore, neither promotion fared well compared to ECW, but at least WCW poached some of its hardcore talent (Raven, Sandman, Terry Funk) and had a funny thing going with Norman Smiley as a hardcore competitor. The WWF mostly had guys who like to pretend that they were hardcore, like Bob ("Hardcore") Holly and Crash Holly. Things changed when the Hardy Boys became big and popularized TLC matches, but I think WCW was going under by that time.

During the Monday Night Wars/Attitude Era I always vastly preffered WCW's production values. I was a WWE mark at the time but even I thought WCW looked like a "bigger" show, at least until 2000.

DDP was better off in WCW, and like I've said before but WWE revision has made it look like he was never over and this guy was over huge in WCW.

Welll, until Russo came along and said that American fans don't want to see foreign wrestlers, I thought that WCW treated most of it's Mexican and Japanese wrestler's better than what WWE did.

The Tag Team Division -Not counting the J.C.P. years, WCW had the best tag team division and i.m.o.; the whole tag division hasn't been the same since WCW folded.
Think about it, we had The Hollywood Blondes, Douglas / Steamboat, Anderson / Eaton, The Blue Bloods, the hardcore duo of Maxx Payne / Cactus Jack, Harlem Heat, The Steiners, Nasty Boys, Doom, Road Warriors etc. I could keep going on and on.
Alot of great talent in the tag division and what stand out teams did WWF have during WCW's run? Not counting teams that were already successful somewhere else
-Hardy Boyz -Brothers of Destruction -Funk & Foley -New Age Outlaws -Rock & Sock Connection
=================================
I also second Rick Rude's WCW theme. His WWF theme fit him but it sounded more like very bad stripper music. When Rude finally made it over to WCW and his generic WCW theme was dropped; you finally got "Simply Ravishing" and when Rude came out to that with a girl or two draped over his arm and the golden pyro...You knew that Rude indeed was Simply Ravishing.
==========================
The Cruiserweights
Even though the announcers for the most part made it seem like none of those matches meant anything but this was the first time you got to see guys like Jericho, Mysterio, Malenko, etc. put on some of the best matches, better then a lot of the matches on the card
======================
I also say DDP's run was a hell of a lot better in WCW than in WWF

The cruiserweight division is way beyond anything WWE has even tried to do with that division.
Also giving young wrestlers a chance to establish themselves. I know people will say I am crazy because Guerrero, Benoit and Jericho became bigger stars in the WWE, but WCW still allowed them to establish themselves. Would Misterio and Jericho have even became the stars they are today if they started with the WWE instead of WCW? The mistake WCW made was they weren't able to get past the mid-card because of the older wrestlers, but they certainly weren't jobbers there and they all won singles titles and built characters that made the fans notice them.
I still agree with the tag team comment. The WWE tag team division wasn't very good in the mid 90s. It started getting better in '98 and got good around 99/00 once WCW was already going to crap. Plus WCW had permanent teams and atleast the teams weren't initial made to build them as singles wrestlers. BTW DX really didn't do much tag work in their initial run, it was more of a stable.

Norman Smiley is the best 'comedy' wrestler to have ever performed in either 'Big Two' promotion. His hardcore stuff was jaw-droppingly funny. The 'shrieks' he gave at Spring Stampede 2000 when Terry Funk was searching for him were fried gold.
That, and get cruiserweights over as characters. You had LA Parka, Ultimo Dragon, Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho, Syxx-Pac, Rey Mysterio, Juventud Guerrera, La Parka, Chavo Guerrero Jr, Eddie Guerero, Kidman... each of them had a unique character and attitude that made them stand out.
And that's not even getting to the booking of Meng and The Barbarian. It's one reason why the NWO angle worked: you had heels like Meng and The Barbarian getting over because the threat was so great that they had to oppose the NWO. They didn't change from their 'ass-kicking' nature, they just became good guys by proxy of challenging Hall and Nash.
Final thought - Kronik did the APA gimmick as well as the APA. And I loved the little touches like 'oh, you paid for so and so minutes... we won't help you past that unless you pay us again' in their attitude to teaming up with clients.

WWFs other golden age of tag teams were the 80s. Check out the first two Survivor Series, you had 5 tag teams vs. 5 other tag teams. The tag team division was STACKED.

Say what you will about the result of the angle itself, but WCW booked a much more successful invasion angle then the WWE has ever been able to pull off.

They kept the fans happy in the 1993-1997 period. They brought in the WWF guys who people knew and still wanted to see.
Vince was going on and on about the New Generation but honestly it was too soon to consider Bret Hart & Shawn Michaels as main eventers after having Andre, Hogan, Savage and Warrior.

- I'll second Rick Rude's theme, but also mention Ricky Steamboat's theme in the 90's. Also Lex Luger's theme.
- Used Rick Rude better than WWE. Rude was a bigger deal in WCW than he was in WWE, and they made him the greatest United States Champion ever.
- Used Lex Luger better than WWE. That's a no brainer. Screw "Made in the USA" Lex Luger, The Total Package Lex Luger was far better in every way.

Though I will say that the mid & under card in ring product of WCW was vastly superior to that of the WWF until c.1998.
