I mean, Cena's rap was "You talk about loving the fans, I'm here every week to show it". To which Rock responds with a promo from LA while Cena's having a cage match. I mean, the Rock had some valid points, but it just gets lost when he's doing the "Finally, the Rock has come back....to Buffalo" all while he's not anywhere near Buffalo.

Yeah, that was rather heelish on Rock's part. Seems weird, like they want Rock to play the heel.

Well The Rock did say that he was here to stay even though he'll probably be gone as soon as Wrestlemania ends. So to answer your question, pretty much yeah.

What makes it work is that both have valid points, but Rock doesn't actually have to be there to love the fans. He still puts himself out there for his fans to see him. It's just that the Rock isn't a wrestler anymore. Cena still is. Cena's primary source of income depends on him being there week after week. Rock's primary money source is cranking out a movie every few months.
Rock's time has come and gone, wrestling-wise. And let's be honest. If Rock were in the WWE week in and week out for the past 7 years, Cena would be the #2 guy instead of #1.

Great promo and all but it plays right into Cena's hands in that sense.
Rock needs to show up pretty soon (next week preferably) and start to prove Cena wrong. That being said, he owes the fans nothing apart from that.

lol i understand you guys wanna get behind cena and his poop and gay jokes, but doing cookie cutter matches while the rock delivers appropriate promo aint gonna cut it. Alot of fans are upset about rock leaving, but come on yall looking way too salty right now..

No matter how much he gets us all to cheer him... The Rock is, was, and will always be a heel character at the core. He should cut a promo live viaa satellite from L.A. Where he should be at a party, on top of a roof, with bikini clad girls around a heated pool bobbing his head listening to trendy L.A. trance music while drinking Absinthe with Charlie Sheen. THAT is the f***ing Rock. ;D

I also dont get how the rock gets so much heat for moving on from the business, instead of taking a role like triple h who comes back and talk downs (i wont say bury) the whole locker room saying no one worthy of his attention??

Or better yet, ending up like Hogan/Foley (a crippled heap of a man) or Ric Flair (Still entertaining in doses, but damn pathetic at times).

I mean, Cena's rap was "You talk about loving the fans, I'm here every week to show it". I cant eyeroll enough reading this. The only reason he's there every week is no one in Hollywood who recognizes talent wants him. Thats why the only movie roles he gets are wwe films roles. Hollywood doesnt force The Rock down our throats like wwe films wants you to believe the yabba dabba doo bitch is anything special. The Rock made his own name using his talents which he has and he doesnt need a billion dollar company or whatever they are worth to make you think he is the be all end all.

Yeah, I gotta say, I was really underwhelmed by the rock. His valid points were mostly just after the fact rationalizations. His comment about 'making it in Hollywood' for the WWE doesn't hold any water. He wasn't the first, and he arguably isn't the best wrestler/actor to hit Hollywood, and his attempts to drop 'the Rock' made it pretty clear he wasn't doing it for them.
The rest of it was literally nothing new. Even his insults to Cena were recycled. I'm pretty sure if I had any 4 hours of Rock promo's I could probably recut tonight's promo almost word for word.

Thats a very stupid assumption there about Cena.
Especially since he's done other things, AND flew back in to WWE shows the same day. Very stupid assumption.

It was a weird promo, because in some ways, Cena was right, but the Rock did a lot to really explain it. It wasn't as lighthearted for most of it, a lot more emotional and serious.
And the only time Rock really distanced himself from wrestling in that 7 years was when the Benoit thing happened. It's not like he ignored that he once was one (he even taped a promo for Wrestlemania in the meantime).

Without the Rock, nobody would care about the WM main event that Cena is headlining yet again.
He's trying to give Cena the "Rock v Hogan" rub that Hogan did for Rock, but Rocky needs to play it true heel because as it is the crowd already half hates Cena already.

I'm pretty sure cutting out the Rock had to do more with the fact that using it required studios to list Vince McMahon as a producer.
